✨ A BIG Thank You to Our Great Lakes Naval Base Volunteers! ✨
Yesterday afternoon, we had the joy of welcoming five volunteers from the Great Lakes Naval Base into our BiG Great Lakes program. They jumped right into our pottery enterprise ... rolling out clay, helping create 12 plates and over 60 dove ornaments that will soon be finished and sold by our Citizens.
Once these pieces are dried and fired in our kiln, our Citizens will glaze them and add their beautiful finishing touches. We love when our community gets to be part of the creative process that empowers our adults with disabilities.
We’re incredibly grateful for this new partnership that gives Navy Recruits the chance to volunteer with local nonprofits and connect with the community. We were able to give them a tour, share our mission and vision, and show them firsthand the joy and purpose that fills our program. Before leaving, they shared how much they enjoyed learning about BiG Great Lakes and having the opportunity to help out.
