Lakeshore Optimists of Grosse Pointe Serving the east side communities since 1980, a local branch of the non-profit Optimist International organization whose motto is "Friend of Youth."

The Lakeshore Optimist Club Of Grosse Pointe has served the Eastside for over 30 years as a local branch of the non-profit Optimist International organization whose motto is "Friend of Youth." Club members volunteer their time and fundraising efforts to contribute to various youth-related activities such as the Old Newsboys' Goodfellows Fund, Arts&Scraps, The Fowler Center Camps, The Family Center

of Harper Woods & Grosse Pointe, the Grosse Pointe Farms Fishing Rodeo and the St. Clair Shores Handicapped Kids Fishing Derby. These Optimists also award scholarship money during their annual Youth Appreciation Week in November, hold the "Coats for the Cold" clothing collection each autumn and honor local Public Safety Departments during "Respect for Law Week" each May.

Kids On The Go! Visits Lakeshore Optimist Club

Kristy Schena, Executive Director, Kids on the Go, gave an update about the programs and services provided by the organization. Kids On The Go is a pediatric non-profit program designed to provide children with special needs, from 3 to 17 years of age, with physical, occupational, speech and recreations therapies over the summer and during the school year. The diverse program offerings go beyond traditional Therapy, integrating therapy goals into engaging and fun activities that foster development, build confidence, and promote independence. Literacy for Kids
Visited the Lakeshore Optimist Club today! Jayne Rose-Vallee, President, Katy Klimczuk, Dir. of Philanthropy, and Steve Licari, Lakeshore Optimist Club President shown below. Literacy for Kids is a non-profit that connects students directly with authors/illustrators to increase interest in reading. They connect in schools and at special events. Anthony Marcellini, Founder and Program Manager for the Progressive Art Studio Collective (PARSC), presented an overview of the organization with the Lakeshore Optimist Club. PASC was launched in January 2021 as the first and only progressive art and design studio, and exhibition program, in Detroit and Wayne County, dedicated to supporting artists with developmental disabilities and/or mental health differences to advance independent artistic practices and build individual career paths in the art and design fields. PASC runs three studios in Detroit, Southgate and Westland, Michigan and works with over 190 artists with disabilities weekly.
