As the summer and the start of the school year come to an end, we would like to reminisce on what the Lord has done so far this school year! 💜 check it out!! As always: We’re open Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm. Stop by, grab a snack or coffee, come say hi, and find a place to study! We are your home away from home! 🤗

This summer, the Study Center attended Freshmen Orientation. We met so many new faces, and even ran into familiar faces! Whether we met you here, or haven’t met you yet, we’d love to welcome you to the ECSC! 📚✏️📖

Fun fact: There are now 37 Study Centers around the US, and a potential 9 more starting next year! The movement of Study Centers is blowing us away! P.S. ask Mr. Jed about Cheese Curd Crawl 🧀📚✈️

Our Executive Director went all over this summer! 🚗🛣️ even getting together with Christian faculties members to attend, prep, and pray for this school year!

WOW, what a turn out! We are so pleased with our turn out at Encounter this year, and we would love you all to come visit us as we’re open throughout the week! 🌅

🏴‍☠️ We hope everyone had a good first day of class and school is going well for you. Join us daily for mid-day prayer at 12:15 pm! 💜💜💜

Thank you, ECU Revival for hosting Glorify Collective! The event was amazing, and the Lord surely was moving!!

: Abbie Keesler, an ECU special education major, traveled to El Salvador this summer to intern with the organization, Joni & Friends, which works to bring Gospel hope to people with disabilities around the world.

“This internship allowed me not only the information of how to do something I’m passionate about and grow that passion, but it also gave me the opportunity to get hands on experience through each outreach of Joni and Friends.

We may not have been able to perfectly communicate with them, but I was reminded of the importance/impact of simple things; a smile, silly gesture, hand offered in support and love can show the love of Christ regardless of any barrier.”

And just like that, the workshop has come to an end!

This year was the first ECU faculty cohort that we’ve had attend the CCS Faculty Theological Collaborative at Duke University.

A big thanks to professors Dr. Nathan Hudson, Dr. Clint Parker and Dr. Robbie Quinn for participating this week.

“Our faculty have engaged in a semester-long effort to look at increasing Christian wisdom in their teaching practices and their scholarship. The East Carolina Study Center is excited to work alongside faculty to continue this effort in the coming years.” - Jed Smith, ECSC Executive Director

Our executive director is in Durham this week participating in the Faculty Theological Collaborative with a few ECU professors and ECSC partners, including art education professor, Robbie Quinn (pictured above).

Today, Quinn led the group in worship – playing and singing along to a modern Christian hymn “In Christ Alone” and “Amazing Grace.”

The Faculty Theological Collaborative workshop exists to support Christian professors through advanced training, living examples of the integration of faith and scholarship, and rich fellowship with Christian faculty across institutions and disciplines.

We’re so thankful for our talented professors who work to deepen their faith.

: Senior ECU honors student studying entrepreneurship, Caroline Pender, had the amazing opportunity to spend six weeks visiting multiple countries this summer, such as Malawi, South Africa, and Kenya to preach the gospel – reaching more than 216,500 people through youth crusades, gospel crusades, churches, prisons, and street ministry.

“Over 150,000 people made a decision for Christ! And we witnessed over 2,000 instant healing miracles.

I stand in awe of the Lord for all that he has done. He opened doors that made absolutely no sense, all so that his name would be proclaimed! There were times where we were in very hostile environments, preaching to people of other religions. There were times when I had so much fear of what man might do to me and my team because of the message of Jesus we were sharing. But the Lord showed me that this was much bigger than my fear. That he was so much bigger than our circumstances and what man might do to us. That the gospel has power and it truly changes lives. I watched this happen before my eyes, as thousands of youth and adults called on the name of Jesus.

I watched so many lives be forever changed – including mine. My encouragement to everyone reading this, is not to sit back. You are called to preach the gospel wherever you are! The Lord wants to use you in your city, your work, and your school. Be bold and don’t let fear stop you. So many people need to hear the good news that saves – the good news of Jesus!” 🙏🏼
