Someone's Sister is a message, a hope to "Break the Silence to Stop the Violence".

Someone's Sister is a Non-profit Band created exclusively to raise awareness for the prevention of child abuse taking to the stage one song at a time to raise awareness to break the silence to stop the violence. Each time these two take to the stage they raise their voices for those that can't. They sing for the children that are out there facing hours unspeakable and they raise their voices for the survivors that have faced the challenges of abuse and have to, Phoenix like, rise from the ashes of their past. Their music provides the perfect blending of rock and folk as each artist lends her own life experience to create music unlike any other. Winfree and Jones believe that although each of us is different, we are all Someone's Sister, we are all Someone's Friend. We all share a common peace and we all need to take a stand and "Be Someone" for someone in need.

The Indigo Girls inspired us so much with their lyrical hearts - here we are covering one of our favorites of theirs.

This song was written years ago in the practice band room of my home, on hardwood floors that seemed to echo everything gathering we, the band Someone’s Sister, brought into the space.

Katherine, Tammy Somersett, and I came together there, with Tammy laying down another heartfelt chord progression she had written. Through a process of free singing, we began exploring a shared idea—how, within the walls of a home, small wars are often waged against those we love the most. Moments where people stop hearing one another, forgetting who they are and what they mean to each other.

We called the song One Minute War to capture those brief but powerful disconnections. It’s a reflection, and a hope—that when we find ourselves in conflict with the people we love most, we can choose to lay down our weapons and return to the peace those spaces were meant to hold.

As always, Katherine has always been powerfully able to paint the lyrics with such intense harmony. We hope you can feel the passion in the meaning of this song.

Make a difference for wildfire survivors ~ we have an amazing donor willing to match the first $5000 donated to Someone’s Sister’s fund raising efforts. If you would like to be a part of supporting this venture, please reach out to myself or Katherine. All funds will be used to support victims of the Lahaina fires. It’s the coming months after the fire that those that did not have insurance or vehicle’s to get back-and-forth to work or those that have lost jobs will need small kind donations to sustain them. Since I am here on the ground in Maui it is my goal to be the change to make a difference in whatever way I can. I would love to see this matched donation be met.
