We will be recognizing Supportive Housing Week next week (Aug. 24-28) with first-person stories and photos about the life-changing impact we’re making when we pair housing with supportive services such as transportation, health services and peer support.
Decades of research show that 90-95% of people in supportive housing remain stably housed long-term, far outperforming other approaches. It’s also cost-effective because it reduces emergency room visits, jail stays and shelter use.
Douglas County is working to increase supportive housing in our community because we believe everyone deserves stability and a chance to thrive, and it’s a key goal in the community’s “A Place for Everyone Plan.”
