Virginia State Parks have nearly 2,000 campsites ranging from primitive hike-in sites to sites that can accommodate large RVs.

Headline: 🎉 246 POUNDS OF GENEROSITY! 🎉

Our community truly showed out at the Fall Festival and Craft Marketplace! Thanks to your incredible kindness and giving spirit, we collected a spectacular 246 pounds of food donations! 🧺✨

Every single non-perishable item brought to the marketplace is going directly toward keeping our local food pantries stocked and ensuring our neighbors have hearty meals as we head into the cooler months.

The talented local artisans and crafters who filled the marketplace with energy.

Our dedicated volunteers who coordinated collection efforts and made this event a success.

Yep... it's officially time to fall into fun with us and the Friends of Twin Lakes State Park! 🍂

Our Annual Fall Festival is back, and we're bringing all your favorite autumn activities together for one BIG day of family fun! 🥳

~ Pumpkin Decorating: Get creative and make a fall masterpiece!
~ Scenic Hayrides and Boatrides: Sit back, relax, and enjoy the beauty of the season.
~ Scarecrow Decorating Competition: Grab your team, build your best scarecrow, and compete for a Virginia State Parks gift certificate!
~ Animal Ambassadors: Get up close with fascinating animals from A.W.A.R.E.
~ Craft Marketplace: Browse unique handmade items from local artists and start checking off that holiday shopping list!
~ Food & Drinks: Come hungry-there will be tasty treats available for purchase.
~ Pumpkins to Take Home: The Friends of Twin Lakes State Park will have pumpkins available for purchase so the fun can continue after you leave!

Gather your crew, grab your sweaters, and get ready for a day of fall fun, friendly competition, local shopping, and memories made at the park!

Paddle!

Ready to get out on the water? Join us for a guided kayak paddle on beautiful 32-acre Prince Edward Lake, the larger of the park's two lakes! 🌊

Enjoy a peaceful morning surrounded by scenic views while learning the basics of kayaking from our park staff. Whether you're a first-time paddler or an experienced kayaker, everyone is welcome!

Program Details:
📆 Saturday, Oct. 3
🕙 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
🕑 2-4 p.m.
💲 $5 per participant + $7 per vehicle parking fee
🚣 No prior experience required
📋 You must register in advance by calling 434-408-1587. Payment will be taken over the phone. Space is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

Parks are for everyone! If you or someone in your group needs special accommodations, please let our park staff know ahead of time. We want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy their time on the water!

Do you love the outdoors, wildlife, and a little nighttime adventure? Twin Lakes State Park is looking for volunteers to help us bring our Creatures of the Night Hike to life!

This family-friendly program takes visitors into the woods after dark to discover the fascinating animals that come alive at night.

Our volunteers will play an important role in creating a fun, engaging, and memorable experience for everyone who attends.
This is a multi-day event, so there are multiple dates and time slots for volunteers to sign up for.

The dates for this event are:
Saturday September 26,
Friday October 2, and
Saturday October 3.
We have several volunteer roles available:

Become a Creature of the Night: Hide along the trails and surprise visitors while helping them learn about the amazing nocturnal animals that call Virginia home!

Registration & Line Crew: Welcome guests, assist with registration, answer questions, and help keep visitor lines organized and moving smoothly.

Event Logistics: Assist with setup, organization, behind-the-scenes tasks, and other duties that help keep the event running smoothly throughout the evening.

Van Driver: Shuttle visitors from Goodwin Lake boat ramp to the Discovery Center parking lot. (must have a valid driver's license and over the age of 18) .

Whether you want to become a mysterious creature lurking in the woods, help welcome our visitors, or work behind the scenes, we have a role for you! This is a great opportunity to get outside, meet fellow nature enthusiasts, gain volunteer experience, and help create a unique experience for our park visitors.
