SPECIAL GUEST AT TONIGHT’S MEETING!

We apologize for the short notice, but we just found out that James T. Lamer will be joining us tonight to discuss the potential for tagging and conducting research on our Illinois River Sauger!

This type of information and data has not been collected for decades and could be a critical component in helping us better understand, manage, and protect this important resource.

The proposed research would include tagging Sauger, including the use of PIT (Passive Integrated Transponder) tags. PIT tagging involves implanting a small, battery-free microchip into a fish, allowing researchers to identify individual fish and gather valuable information about their movement, growth, and survival over time.

James brings extensive knowledge and experience in large river ecology and currently serves as:

Director, Illinois River Biological Station – Illinois Natural History Survey
Associate Research Scientist, Large River Ecology – Illinois Natural History Survey
Research Assistant Professor, Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences
We hope to see you at tonight’s meeting and look forward to hearing more about this exciting opportunity and what it could mean for the future of our Illinois River Sauger fishery!
