Dear PCEF,
Thank you to PCEF for generously funding our Book Bus summer reading program! Your support made it possible for children to enjoy engaging story times with our staff, participate in fun themed crafts and activities, enjoy snacks that matched each week's theme, and check out books to read at home. Your investment helped foster a love of reading while creating meaningful summer learning experiences for children in our community. We are truly grateful for your support!

Thank you,
Michelle Edens & Rebecca Wiesbrock

Thank you to the PCEF for funding our 2026 Battle of the Books. The seventh and eighth graders loved voting on the books, and enjoying a pizza party at the end. This year's winner, nationally AND at PCJH, was Dog VS Strawberry by Nelly Buchet.

We appreciate it!

Thank you to the PCEF for helping fund the 2026 PCJH Amazing Civil War Race. The seventh graders participate in activities that test their intelligence, use of strategy, and physical abilities... all while learning the history of the Civil War. With the help of PCEF 4 top speakers and reenactors of the Civil War were in attendance. We welcomed Abraham Lincoln, two Civil War soldiers, and Harriet Tubman to present to our students. The following pictures are of the 3 winning teams, all of the students with some of our presenters, and our excellent helpers from Room 2 at PCHS.

We appreciate it!

Dear PCEF,
Thank you so much for providing PCJH with the field trip opportunity to hike at Starved Rock and Matthiessen. Each grade level takes a different trail at Starved Rock in the morning. After hiking, we head to Matthiessen Park for a grilled hot dog lunch. The students play team building games and go on a short hike to the river at the Matthiessen Dells area. Our students and staff thoroughly enjoy this day! Thank you for making this trip possible each year!

Dear PCEF,

Thank you for sponsoring our 2nd grade field trip to Wildlife Prairie Park. We had a beautiful day filled with fun and meaningful learning experiences. The animals were especially active, and the students particularly enjoyed watching the wolves, otters, raccoons, foxes, donkeys, and birds. They were also fascinated to learn how many of the animals at the park have been rescued and cared for.
The one-room schoolhouse and log cabin were another highlight. Students loved stepping back in time—ringing the school bell, pretending to be students, writing on slate boards, and even trying on a dunce cap as part of the experience.

The day concluded with a train ride through the park, where students took in the scenic views and spotted animals like longhorns and horses along the way.

Thank you again for sponsoring this trip. It was a wonderful and memorable learning adventure for our students.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Bush, and Mrs. Eustice

Attached you find a picture and a video, hopefully that will show a better view of all the 26-27 Rebecca Caudill books. Thanks to the PCEF for approving the Reading Grant for two copies of these books. Also, you will see a label that will go into every book. I can't wait to talk about these twenty books to the incoming 6th graders. Thank you all for supporting this program.

Thanks so much to the Putnam County Educational Foundation for providing our fourth graders the opportunity to bowl at Illinois Valley Super Bowl in Peru on Wednesday, April 29. The students were able to bowl two games and enjoy a snack and a drink. It was a great time for students to hang out with their friends while putting into action in the forms of energy we learned in science class. It was an awesome trip and we appreciate your generosity! Thanks for all you do for PC students.!
