Yesterday kicked off with a great club meeting (where some of us dressed up to make the day even more fun). Then, last night, the amazing team of Tim and Jennifer Sweeney hosted us for the annual club Sweeney Halloweeny Party. There were great costumes (with prizes!), fun games, delicious food and fellowship. We even included a couple of birthday celebrations! We're so grateful to the Sweeney's for having us at their (very) festive home, and to everyone who came out to help us get into the spirit of the holiday. 🎃

Congratulations to our first Student Service Above Self Award winner of the 2026-2027 school year - Brandon Griffith, a senior at Hidden Valley High School.

Brandon, shown here with his parents Bruce & Ashlee Griffith and his FFA teacher Amy Meyer, participates in FFA, student government, band, swim team, the SOU Brain Bowl, soccer and more. But even with all of that, he finds time to volunteer at various community events, like Art Along the Rogue, Boatnik and the Christmas parade.

After graduation, Brandon is considering both the US Coast Guard, or possibly attending OSU and studying environmental protection.

Congratulations, and well done, Brandon! 👏

Congratulations to Jolene Lefeber, who recently received her Paul Harris +6 recognition pin. Jolene had donated generously to The Rotary Foundation to help us do our good work in our local community, as well as around the world... including a recent water project in Mexico, which Jolene was very active in creating. Well done, Jolene, and thank you for all you do! 👏

Club members joined Food Bank volunteers tonight at Grants Pass Growler Guys to support Hunger Action Month! We each brought 3 cans of food to donate to the Food Bank, and for that donation, we each received 20% off our tabs. What a fun way to support hungry families in our community, and enjoy some fellowship at the same time.

Susan Fischer-Maki was a previous member of our club, and we were so sad when she had to leave us for a while. But she came back! And we couldn't be happier! Susan is a caring and dedicated community member, as well as a wonderful Rotarian with a heart for service. Welcome back to where you belong, Susan!

Another club member recently earned her blue badge, too. Congratulations to Victoria Lopez-Garrett! Well done! 👏

Congratulations to club member Sue Parrish, who recently earned her blue badge! This indicates that Sue completed a series of tasks designed to help her understand Rotary and our club better. Well done, Sue! 👏

Rotarians work hard to serve their communities. Thanks to this group, and everyone else who volunteered during Porchfest 2026 back in June.

James Dunn is a beloved member of our club, who we don't get to see in-person too often (he frequently Zooms into our meetings!). But when he came in-person recently, we presented him with a Paul Harris Fellowship +2 recognition pin, signifying his generous contributions to The Rotary Foundation. Thank you, James! These contributions allow us to continue our Rotary work both locally and around the world.

We would like to introduce another new club member, Michelle Gallas. Michelle has had a long career in early childhood education, and is currently the owner of Imagine That Creative Children's Centers. When expressing an interest in our club, she said that she couldn't think of a group that focuses on community more than we do - and she wanted to be a part of it. We're so glad that now are, Michelle! Welcome!
