🇺🇸 Honoring Service, Preserving Tradition 🇺🇸

Today, the Rogue Valley Young Marines had the privilege of conducting a flag retirement and replacement ceremony, a tradition that carries deep meaning and respect for our nation’s symbol.

As part of the ceremony, the retired American flag was formally presented to Mr. Mick Smole, a United States Army veteran who proudly served our country from 1951 to 1953. Presenting a retired flag to a veteran is a meaningful way to honor both the service of the individual and the sacrifices made by generations of Americans who have defended our freedoms.

The American flag represents the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of those who came before us. Teaching our Young Marines the importance of respecting our nation’s colors helps preserve these values and ensures that future generations understand the significance of our country’s heritage.

We were also incredibly proud of Young Marine PVT Ames, who delivered a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, setting the tone for a ceremony filled with patriotism and respect.

A special thank you to The Suites Assisted Living & Memory Care for continuing to partner with us in this annual Flag Day tradition. We are grateful for the opportunity each year to honor our nation, our veterans, and the values that bring our community together.

Thank you, Mr. Smiles, for your service to our nation and for allowing us the honor of recognizing you today. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do and the importance of connecting our youth with the veterans who paved the way before them.

Semper Fidelis! 🇺🇸

❤️ Today is National Children's Day! ❤️
While today is a day to celebrate the incredible value and potential of every child, the mission of Josephine County Toys for Tots doesn't end when today does—and it certainly doesn't end after Christmas.
We work 365 days a year to bring hope to children through holiday assistance, literacy programs, disaster response, foster care support, and other opportunities that help disadvantaged children thrive.
Today, we're asking our community to consider a donation of $36.50, representing our commitment to serving children every day of the year.
Every gift, no matter the size, helps us continue our mission of delivering hope, encouragement, and smiles to local children who need it most.
Together, we can make sure that no child is forgotten—not today, not tomorrow, but every day of the year. ❤️

Last night, the Rogue Valley Young Marines had the privilege of assisting with Family Night at Concerts in the Park, and they did an outstanding job representing our unit and community.

Throughout the evening, our Young Marines helped direct and manage parking for attendees. This may seem like a simple task, but it required discipline, teamwork, situational awareness, and problem-solving skills as they worked to keep traffic flowing safely and efficiently while assisting families arriving for the event.

In addition to parking duties, the Young Marines conducted patrols throughout the park, serving as extra eyes and ears while engaging positively with community members. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and willingness to serve were on full display all evening.

Opportunities like these allow our youth to develop leadership, responsibility, communication skills, and confidence while giving back to the community they call home. We are incredibly proud of each Young Marine for their hard work, maturity, and dedication to service.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support Family Night and helped make it a great success. The future is bright with young leaders like these stepping up to serve.

Some skills can’t be learned from a classroom—they’re learned through experience and will last a lifetime. 🇺🇸💪🏕️

Today, the Rogue Valley Young Marines had an incredible opportunity to participate in OHA Youth Day at the Josephine County Sportsman’s Association Gun Range, where they spent the day learning, challenging themselves, and building confidence through hands-on experiences.

Throughout the day, our Young Marines participated in:
🎯 Black Powder Shooting
🎯 .22LR Rifle Shooting
🎯 S***t Shooting
🏹 Archery
🧭 Map & Compass Navigation
🩹 Field Trauma Scenarios
👣 Tracking Skills

These experiences are about so much more than learning outdoor skills—they teach discipline, responsibility, leadership, safety, critical thinking, and teamwork. Watching these young men and women step outside their comfort zones, encourage one another, and embrace every challenge is exactly what the Young Marines program is all about.

A huge thank you to the Oregon Hunters Association, the Josephine County Sportsman’s Association, and the many volunteers who dedicated their time and expertise to investing in our youth. Your mentorship, generosity, and commitment made today an unforgettable experience.

We couldn’t be more proud of these Young Marines and the future leaders they are becoming. Semper Fidelis! 🇺🇸❤️💛

🇺🇸 JUNE IS PTSD AWARENESS MONTH 🇺🇸

Some warriors came home from war.

Part of them never did.

Every day, countless veterans, first responders, and survivors of trauma fight battles that nobody can see. They smile when they’re hurting. They stand tall when they’re exhausted. They carry memories, pain, and burdens that most will never understand.

PTSD is not weakness.

It is the cost of enduring experiences that would break most people.

This month, we honor those who continue the fight long after the uniform comes off, long after the sirens fade, and long after the world has moved on.

To the veteran who still scans every room.
To the first responder haunted by the calls they couldn’t forget.
To the survivor who relives their worst day over and over again.

We see you.

Your story matters.
Your sacrifice matters.
Your life matters.

The strongest thing a person can do is ask for help when the weight becomes too much to carry alone.

As Americans, as neighbors, and as a community, we must stand beside those bearing invisible wounds with the same respect and gratitude we show those with visible ones.

Because no warrior should have to fight alone.

This June, take a moment to check on a veteran. Call a friend. Listen without judgment. Be the reason someone chooses to keep moving forward.

Some heroes are fighting battles you will never see.

Never forget them.

🇺🇸 Honor the sacrifice.
🇺🇸 Break the stigma.
🇺🇸 Save a life.
