From Tragedy to Purpose. From Leadership to Lasting Impact.

Ten years ago, a heartbreaking tragedy at a local high school sparked a mission to make a difference in Arizona youth's lives.

What began as an idea during Leadership West’s Class 22 grew into a shared vision among Gina Godbehere and fellow classmates Dr. Lily Matos DeBlieux and Jennifer Rogers. Together, they turned that vision into action, launching Speak Up, Stand Up, Save a Life, an initiative that continues to make a lasting impact on Arizona’s youth.

Today, we are proud to highlight the 9th Annual Speak Up, Stand Up, Save a Life Youth Conference and the incredible impact this movement continues to make.

With more than 420,000 students impacted, this initiative empowers young people to recognize warning signs, speak up for one another, and connect with trusted adults when someone needs help.

This is what Leadership West is all about. Bringing leaders together, building meaningful connections, and turning ideas into action that strengthens our communities.

Congratulations to the founders, partners, and countless community members who continue to carry this important mission forward. What a powerful reminder of what is possible when leaders come together for a greater purpose!

What a wonderful afternoon celebrating leadership, community, and one of our own! 🎉

Congratulations to Maria R. Brunner on officially receiving the West Valley Networking Woman of the Year Award!

It was especially meaningful to see so many Leadership West alumni at the luncheon, showing their support for Maria and celebrating the incredible work being done throughout our West Valley communities.

This is what Leadership West is all about. Building connections, celebrating one another, and making an impact that extends far beyond the classroom.

The West Valley just got a front-row seat. 🎭✨

For years, if you wanted world-class arts, you drove east. Not anymore.

The Hilltop Theatre and Concert Hall is opening on the historic La Loma hilltop in Litchfield Park, and it’s something special. A grand stage. A chandelier lounge. A gallery showcasing student art. Recording and film studios. And right next door, the brand new Hilltop School for the Arts, where students are training for real careers in the creative industries.

This is what happens when a community decides its kids and its culture are worth investing in. 👏 Huge congratulations to the Agua Fria High School District, the City of Litchfield Park, and every voter who said yes to making this real.

Paul Litchfield dreamed of this hilltop as a home for the arts nearly 100 years ago. Today, that dream is open for business.

The arts aren’t far away anymore. They’re home. 🏠

Class 33 recently spent the day diving into the 5 Practices of Exemplary Leadership, one of the foundational leadership experiences of the Leadership West Flagship Program.

The day gave our class the opportunity to reflect on their own leadership, learn from one another, and walk away with practical tools they can put into action right away.

This highly selective program provides community leaders with a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the mission, people, and impact of Luke Air Force Base while strengthening the important connection between the base and our West Valley communities.

We love seeing Leadership West alumni continue to step into opportunities to learn, connect, serve, and lead across our region.

Non-Profit Friday: Peoria Diamond Club ⚾️

Spring Training is a big part of life in the West Valley, with stadiums and teams across our region welcoming fans from near and far each spring. But at the Peoria Sports Complex, baseball's impact reaches far beyond the field.

Since 1993, the Peoria Diamond Club has brought volunteers, community partners, and baseball together to support youth throughout the West Valley. With more than 350 volunteers, the organization has invested over $2.2 million into local youth organizations and impacted tens of thousands of kids.

And we love the Leadership West connection! Executive Director Rebecca Wright, Class 32, is helping lead that work and expand the organization’s impact across our region.
It’s a great reminder that some of the biggest Spring Training wins happen long after the last pitch.
