Each year, a group of local professionals participate in the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce Leadership Adirondack program, in which the class selects a community fundraising project to support a non-profit organization. This year’s class chose to focus its efforts and resources on Amanda’s House.

The house opened in 2001, operating as a non-profit organization, and remained open for 12 years by generous donations from the community, guests and volunteers. Amanda’s House has been an important community resource to hundreds of local patients during its 12 years. In 2012, over 150 guests stayed at the house, proving to be its busiest year. Even with its apparent need, the organization was affected by hard economic times and in 2013 had to suspend its operation. With renewed efforts and under the supervision of Glens Falls Hospital, Amanda's House plans to re-open in early 2015. The house will need several repairs, furniture replacements, appliances, computers, office for the House Manager, and general home necessities.
