🌟 Alumni Spotlight 🌟

Huge congratulations to First Tee – Oregon alumna Hayley Mortensen, PGA, named Assistant Golf Professional of the Year by the Dominic Marconi! 🏆

Hayley joined First Tee at age 11, and her journey with us included standout experiences like the Nature Valley First Tee Open, the Life Skills and Leadership Academy in New York, and the Hank Haney IJGA Summer Program — along with playing in the Pure Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach alongside Peter Jacobsen.

While a participant, Hayley credited First Tee and her coaches for developing and fostering her love of the game, building a foundation that’s helped carry her toward her goal of a career in golf.

Now an Assistant Golf Professional at Willamette Valley Country Club, Hayley is proof of what’s possible when passion meets opportunity. We are so proud of you! 💚⛳

⛳ This fall, our golfers have been hard at work!

From collaborating with others and pursuing personal goals, to building positive self-identity and growing through challenges, our participants have tackled it all over the past several weeks — all while sharpening their putting, chipping, pitching, and full swing. 🏌️

We’ve got just a couple weeks left in the season, and we’re soaking it all it up before saying see you later! 💚

🏆 Huge congratulations to Maeve — First Tee – Oregon Game participant and one of the winners of the Lashify® Athlete of the Year Award, part of the EmpowHER Awards hosted by the Portland Thorns FC and Portland Fire!

The award celebrates girls and women leading change across Portland, recognizing athletes who exemplify elite athleticism while leading by example in school, work, and community.

Some of you may recognize Maeve as our kidsportsreporter from last year’s The Standard LPGA Portland Classic! We are so proud of everything she continues to accomplish, on and off the course. 💚⛳

Congratulations, Maeve — you are a true Game Changer!

⛳ Behind every confident swing, every life lesson learned, and every kid who believes in themselves a little more — there’s a coach who made it happen.

Happy National Coaches Day to ours. 💚🏌️ Our impact and reach wouldn’t be possible without our incredible team of coaches!

⛳ Fall is in full swing for our PGA Jr. League!

Kicked off September 10th, this 7-week season has our participants competing on teams through weekly practices and five scramble, match-play style matches. 🏌️

We’re proud to be one of just 32 First Tee chapters nationwide selected to receive funding from the PGA of America REACH Foundation, the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, and PGA TOUR Superstore — a grant that’s helping make this season more accessible than ever.

This funding covers the PGA Jr. League Game Changer Membership for eligible participants, meaning kids from Title I schools can join completely free of cost. It’s one more way we’re making sure every child — regardless of their situation — has the chance to learn the game, build friendships, and grow through First Tee. 💚

⛳ What a day of STEM career exploration and golf!

Recently, some of our teens visited Leupold Golf — a Beaverton company that’s been engineering precision optics for over a century, known for the golf laser rangefinders so many golfers rely on. 🔬

Highlights from the day included:
🗣️ 30 minutes of one-on-one Q&A time with the leadership team
🏭 A full facility tour, following the entire process from start to finish as scopes become finished products
💼 An inside look at how company leaders got to where they are today — giving our teens a real glimpse into what it takes to build a career in a company like this

The day wrapped up at Topgolf, where teens got to golf for an hour — for some, it was their very first time swinging a club! 🏌️

Huge thanks to Leupold & Stevens and Topgolf Hillsboro for hosting such a meaningful day of career exploration and fun. 💚
