Dinner tonight took an army to prepare! Mel and her legs in the kitchen, Ande and Rebekah helped to make eggrolls! Mr. Ken and Rachel created a cherry dump cake using yellow cake mix provided by Better Batter! Mr. Ken was everywhere he needed to be to help us out. He chopped all of the vegetables while Jennifer and Rose prepped and cooked the chicken and Rebekah made 50 times the recipe for the sauce for the most amazing sweet and sour chicken!

Lunch was an Italian feast with lasagna noodles complements of Taste Republic. The no boil noodles went perfectly with the recipe handed down to Mama Rose. Sarah has worked for three months, perfecting the sourdough starter and was able to make absolutely perfect sourdough cheese bread!! Dessert was provided by a new sponsor, Sprouts Grocery. Miss Rachel and Mr. Ken used the puff pastry to make an incredible fresh fruit and cream cheese !

Today was a crazy day in the kitchen, At Gilmont! Auntie’s Flour and the amazing Miss Rachel worked some culinary magic and created the perfect cinnamon roll for breakfast. She continued the magic with Better Batter Chocolate Cake for the softest cupcakes I’ve ever had. The cupcake culminated a lunch of chicken nuggets and mac & cheese courtesy of Jovial Pasta. Dinner tonight was the Camp favorite, barbecue brisket, roasted potato salad, cheese fried pickles, and fried Oreos.
The amazing staff in the Gilmont Kitchen continues to provide the expertise to ensure that the meals are ready and hot every single meal!

GGE is rooted in 22 years of Traditions and family. Over a decade ago a young man affectionately named Mini Umm read this story to the campers each night. Next, Cheeco (the names are a whole different story! !) took over and continued the tradition. Both of those gentlemen started as young campers and graduated to volunteers. Christine was the next Camper turned volunteer to take on the role of storyteller. This year Corbin, another camper turned staff member, and now volunteer has taken over the reins of reading Good Night Moon.

GGE is thankful for all of our corporate sponsors who provide monetary and product donations!

Today was our first full day of GGE and it was amazing! I want to thank the Gilmont Kitchen staff for all they do to help make GGE a success! Our day started with French toast, bacon, yogurt, and cereal options. Thank you to Jones Dairy for the bacon. Lunch consisted of Miss Mel’s second to none Italian meatball subs, veggies, and brownie and chocolate chip sandwich cookies courtesy of Sweet Loren’s. Dinner was tortellini pasta from Taste Republic with Mr. Ken unbeatable home made Alfredo sauce. Dessert tonight was homemade star crunch. Every meal has an offering of fruit and both lunch and dinner have a full salad bar prepared by the awesome Gilmont Kitchen staff!
