You ask and we answer! Cynthia Connell had a question about something she heard in a previous podcast. Watch the video to hear our answer.

Understanding the past can help us find peace in our spiritual journeys. In a beautiful scriptural account, the moving doorposts of a holy temple are surrounded by blood and the presence of God. This reminds us of the Exodus story, where families marked their doors with blood so they could be temporally and spiritually saved during their journey. These matching pieces show that God has always provided a way for His people to be clean. How does this ancient imagery apply to our own journeys? What does it mean to be truly redeemed at the end of our path?

What can a sacred Native ceremony teach us about Jesus Christ?

In our latest episode, hosts Chuck Kaye and Rachel Crouse explore how the forced removal of Native tribes during the Trail of Tears mirrors the ancient Israelite exile. Dr. Anthony Rivera helps break down this stunning history connection using the exact text of the Indian Removal Act of 1830.

The hosts also look at how the sacred Plains Sundance ceremony connects to Isaiah 53’s famous prophecy of the Messiah through this beautiful tradition. You will learn how piercing the body serves as a powerful offering of healing and love for the people.

Indigenous experiences with forced relocation help us truly understand how deeply the Lord cares for people who are separated from their homes today.

In the Bible, the prophet Isaiah writes about the exile, which means the forced removal of the Israelite tribes from their homeland. This painful experience matches the history of many Native nations who were forced off their sacred lands. The Cherokee Trail of Tears is a well-known example of this kind of forced removal, but it happened to many other groups too. The Navajo and the Muscogee Creek nations were also driven from their homes, and similar heartbreaks happened to Indigenous nations in Canada.

When reading these ancient stories, it helps to think about how it must have felt to lose a deep connection to your homeland, your sacred places, and your ancestors. How can understanding this painful history help us better feel the pain of ancient people in the scriptures? How does knowing that the Lord sees all these hardships comfort us today? Experiencing the loss of a homeland creates a unique connection to the ancient scriptures and shows us how the Lord loves all His children through their deepest trials.

In our busy, loud world, it can be incredibly difficult to find a moment of peace. The text in Isaiah 41:1 invites us to do something that feels unusual today: "Keep silence before me." The Lord teaches us that sitting in silence is not a waste of time. Instead, it is a powerful way to clear our minds and prepare our hearts to draw closer to Him.

Many Native American tribes have long understood the deep value of quiet reflection, fasting, and stillness. These sacred periods of silence are practiced regularly to help individuals align their spirits and connect deeply with the Creator. It is beautiful to see how these ancient traditions mirror the very instructions written in the scriptures.

When we intentionally quiet the noise around us, we create space for true spiritual growth. Taking time to sit silently allows us to step away from daily stressors and distractions. It gives our souls a chance to rest in God's presence, proving that absolute stillness holds immense power.

Have you ever felt like you were going through a spiritual drought? Rachel shares how the desert can represent those times in life when we feel dry, lonely, and desperate for help. But the best news is that the desert is also the exact place where we focus on God the most. When we feel completely empty, that is when the Savior comes in to rescue us and make our lives flourish again.

When Jesus Christ brings His gospel into our lives, everything changes for the better. Isaiah promises that the Messiah will level the mountains and make our rough paths straight and smooth. If you are walking through a hard, dry season right now, take heart! The Lord is ready to reveal His glory and make your journey so much easier.

Life can feel like a rollercoaster sometimes, but you do not have to handle it all by yourself. The prophet Isaiah teaches us a wonderful lesson about the Savior. He shows us that Jesus Christ is always ready to comfort His people. No matter what kind of trouble you are going through, there is always a reason to have hope for a brighter tomorrow.

God is much bigger and stronger than any worldly power or problem. When we choose to follow Him, He can take our hard times and use them to make us better people. If you are looking for a little extra strength today, try turning to the scriptures to see how much God truly cares about you.

Isaiah 25 shares a beautiful message of hope. It promises that God will eventually take away all human sadness, sickness, and pain. He will wipe away every tear and conquer death forever through the Atonement.

How do the ancient words of Isaiah connect to Native American culture? Hosts Rachel Crouse and Brother Anthony Rivera explore a beautiful link in Isaiah chapter 43 where God talks about passing through high waters and hot flames without being hurt.

Rachel notes that talking about the earth, the elements, water, and fire feels very natural to Native people.

Anthony explains that if your life is built on a firm foundation, the wild elements of the world cannot destroy you. Jehovah is your Creator, and you are incredibly precious in His eyes.

See the scriptures come alive through a new cultural lens.
