From education and housing to women’s health, community safety, voting rights, and economic opportunity, our goal has been to help voters understand the issues and prepare to participate in the democratic process.

Now, as Election Day approaches, it’s time to turn information into action!

Education and educational opportunities

Food access and housing

❤️ Women’s health and community safety

7 Week Countdown to the Midterm Elections

WEEK 6: ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOR WOMEN & FAMILIES

Tuesday, October 20, 2026

STRONG FAMILIES. STRONG COMMUNITIES. A BRIGHTER TOMORROW.

The Shelby County (TN) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. continues its 2026 Democracy in Action initiative by spotlighting economic opportunities that affect women, working families, and the communities we call home.

DID YOU KNOW?
Economic security involves more than a paycheck. Access to good-paying jobs, affordable childcare, reliable transportation, education, entrepreneurship opportunities, and business financing can all influence a family’s ability to thrive.

❓ WHY IT MATTERS
Economic policies can influence whether families can afford everyday necessities, build savings, purchase homes, start businesses, and create long-term financial stability.

When women and families have access to economic opportunities, communities can benefit from greater financial security and local economic activity. YOUR VOICE. YOUR VOTE.

As you research candidates for the November 3 election, consider asking:

✅ What would you do to expand access to good-paying jobs and career training?
✅ How would you address the cost and availability of childcare for working families?
✅ What initiatives would you support to help women-owned and small businesses succeed?
✅ How would you improve access to transportation and economic opportunities in underserved communities?
✅ What is your approach to helping families build long-term financial security?

ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY MATTERS!
Take time to understand how decisions made at every level of government may affect your household, your career, your business, and your community.
