An end-of-the-year musical celebration with our Jazz Ensemble, Freshman Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, United Sound, student teacher Mr. Grabowski, scholarship winners, and senior award winners. Congratulations on a great performance.

What a year for Brooke. She played with the WSMA State Honor Band in October as one of the best oboe players in the state. This achievement in May. Such a talented young woman whose hard work shines through everything she does.

Brooke Jakubowski, a Germantown High School senior, was recognized as one of the top speech students in Wisconsin.

Why it matters:
More than 3,100 students from nearly 300 Wisconsin high schools competed in this year’s State Speech Festival.

The accomplishment:
Only 19 seniors in the entire state earned the festival’s highest award all four years of high school from 2023-2026.

That award:
Students received Critic’s Choice gold medals each year for top performances at the state contest.

Why it is special:
Earning the top award once is difficult. Earning it four years in a row is rare.

Congratulations to Brooke on this outstanding achievement and for representing Germantown High School at such a high level.

A great accomplishment by a former band trumpet player. No surprise on his leadership skills. There are things he started as trumpet section leader that are still in place today. Congratulations Matthew!!

Join me in congratulating our newest Hertz Fellow! 👏

West Point’s Matthew Wanta ‘26 is one of 19 students nationwide named a 2026 Hertz Fellow, the nation’s most selective research fellowship in science and engineering.

Wanta builds autonomous drone systems, develops computer vision for defense manufacturing, and coordinates multi-agent aerial search with military organizations. He will commission as a Cyber officer this spring and begin a doctorate in Operations Research at MIT in the fall.

Moments like this remind me why this work matters.

Congratulations to him and to the mentors and faculty who helped make this possible. I look forward to seeing him continue to apply his technical skills in support of the warfighter!

Congratulations to the GHS musicians who performed at the WSMA State Solo and Ensemble Festival at Carroll University today. Another big shout out to those who are also in the pit orchestra for The Addams Family.

Congratulations Maddie!

Today begins our annual tradition of highlighting a different UWAY Senior, leading up to our last concert together on Sunday, May 3rd. And to start, we are proud to celebrate Maddie Cull from Germantown High School Warhawk Bands! Not only is Maddie a talented trombonist, but she enjoys and thrives in helping others! She is president of her school's www.UnitedSound.org chapter and she intends to pursue a major in Education. One of Maddie's favorite UWAY memories is the fun carpools to and from the UW-Milwaukee campus for weekly rehearsals. As a 1-year UWAY member, Maddie states, "there hasn't been a piece of music I haven't liked," and "biggest regret ... not taking the risk and trying out sooner." Well, we are surely glad you did - BRAVA and congrats on all of your accomplishments, Maddie!
