The Locker educates and empowers youth, through Service Learning, to meet the needs of others in their community so that every child has a sense of normalcy

The Locker provides a way for students to learn to serve their community and in doing so they help their fellow students in need. Service Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities. The Locker provides life-enhancing items to help students succeed. caps and gowns

sports equipment and physicals

extra-curricular expenses

academic fees

field trip fees

work clothes

emergency dentist visits

bicycles and helmets. These items help students succeed. It allows them to stay involved in school activities and connected to school coaches, teachers, and peers. Research, like the 40 Developmental Assets, shows that children that are engaged are more successful. The Locker provides necessities to students in need:

NEW clothing and shoes

healthy snacks

water

bedding

hygiene items

school supplies. These basic items are tools necessary to ensure success in school and everyday life. These items enable students to focus on school and be more successful as a result. We have physical “lockers” on several campuses. All lockers are open for every student. Keeping THE LOCKER stocked year-round is very important and donations are welcome at any time. We greatly appreciate the wonderful support we receive from such a giving community! Donations of NEW clothing, NEW school supplies, and NEW full size (please, no hotel size) personal hygiene items can be brought to the following locations (which help serve all GISD “children in need”)

It starts with a YES.

We are incredibly grateful to recognize a generous private donor who became the first donor to The Locker’s YES Fund with an incredible $10,000 gift.

The YES Fund was created for community members looking for a meaningful way to help us say YES to the individual needs of the students we serve.

Sometimes that YES is a new pair of shoes. Sometimes it’s clothing, a school fee, supplies, or a need we could never anticipate.

Whatever that moment looks like, the YES Fund gives The Locker the flexibility to respond when a student needs us most.

To our first YES Fund donor: thank you for leading the way with an extraordinary $10,000 YES. Your generosity is helping us show what is possible when a community comes together for its students.

Now, we invite our community to join her. 💙

Fund the YES. Because every student deserves to hear it.

The sweetest thank you from Williams Elementary!

We recently had the opportunity to help provide shoes for their PE class, and their students surprised us with this incredibly thoughtful thank-you note.

These sweet messages are such a special reminder of why we do what we do. Sometimes something as simple as having the right pair of shoes can help a student participate, feel included, and just be a kid.

Thank you, Williams Elementary, for making our day — we’re so grateful to be part of your school community!

"So… what exactly is Santa Crawl & Santa's Village?

It’s one day with TWO ways to celebrate.

Adults 21+ can grab a Santa Crawl ticket and make their way through participating Georgetown stops for a festive holiday crawl benefiting The Locker.

🎄 Families can join us for a completely FREE kids holiday experience featuring Santa, face painting, games and activities created by our student Locker Clubs — no crawl ticket required.

Whether you come for the crawl, the kids’ fun or both, December 12 is going to be a pretty great day to celebrate our community."

Program Spotlight: Gateway!

We love seeing our Locker programs in action, and Gateway always knows how to make service fun!

This week, Gateway students are once again putting their hearts into an awesome event that brings students together while giving them the opportunity to serve and make a difference.

Their creativity, energy, and heart are exactly what “Kids Helping Kids” is all about. We love watching our motto come to life through the incredible work these students are doing!

Way to go, Gateway! We are so proud of you!

What can student support look like? More than you might think.

Sometimes a student needs a backpack or hygiene products. Other times, the need isn’t something you can put in a donation bin.

It might be an athletic fee, AP test, cap and gown, required course expense, clothing, food, school supplies—or another cost standing between a student and an opportunity to participate, learn and thrive.

At The Locker, we believe support should meet students where the need actually is. We don’t have income qualifications or ask students to prove that they are “in need enough.” We may never know everything happening at home—and we don’t need to.

When a need is identified, we want to be able to say YES.

Swipe through to see just a few of the ways student support can make a difference.

Real needs. Real students. Real impact.
