The Locker The Locker educates and empowers youth, through Service Learning, to meet the needs of others in their community so that every child has a sense of normalcy

The Locker provides a way for students to learn to serve their community and in doing so they help their fellow students in need. Service Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities. tudents succeed. caps and gowns

sports equipment and physicals

extra-curricular expenses

academic fees

field trip fees

work clothes

emergency dentist visits

bicycles and helmets. These items help students succeed. It allows them to stay involved in school activities and connected to school coaches, teachers, and peers. Research, like the 40 Developmental Assets, shows that children that are engaged are more successful. The Locker provides necessities to students in need:

NEW clothing and shoes

healthy snacks

water

bedding

hygiene items

school supplies. These basic items are tools necessary to ensure success in school and everyday life. These items enable students to focus on school and be more successful as a result. We have physical “lockers” on several campuses. All lockers are open for every student. Keeping THE LOCKER stocked year-round is very important and donations are welcome at any time. We greatly appreciate the wonderful support we receive from such a giving community! Donations of NEW clothing, NEW school supplies, and NEW full size (please, no hotel size) personal hygiene items can be brought to the following locations (which help serve all GISD “children in need”)

Two Crosby Family scholarships
The Crosby Family Scholarship rewards service to the community. These students pride themselves on their service and do so with integrity.
Amanda(President)from East View and Sophie(Vice-President)from Georgetown were our selected recipients this year. These young ladies portray everything The Locker and the Crosby family stands for!
We were also so proud that #1, #3, and #4 of the Georgetown High class were all members of The Locker. Two of them were former officers!
