Northern Illinois Food Bank Northern Illinois Food Bank's mission is to provide nutritious food and resources for our neighbors.

Our vision at Northern Illinois Food Bank is for everyone in Northern Illinois to have the food they need to thrive. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and proud member of Feeding America, we serve our neighbors in 13 counties with dignity, equity and convenience, providing 250,000 meals a day. We bring together manufacturers, local and corporate grocers, area farmers, corporations, foundations, a

nd individuals who donate food and funding, and each week nearly 1,500 volunteers help us evaluate, repack, and distribute food. We also proudly partner with more than 900 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and youth and senior feeding programs to provide nutritious food and resources. A huge thank you to Jewel-Osco for their generous $3,000 donation from the grand reopening celebration of their beautiful Bartlett store! 🎉125 E. Stearns Rd.

This partnership goes far beyond a single donation. Through Jewel-Osco's ongoing food recovery program, the Bartlett store has donated enough food to help provide more than 80,000 meals this year—and every bit of that food stays right here in the local community, helping neighbors facing hunger.

The thoughts and sympathies of Northern Illinois Food Bank go out to the family, friends, and fans of Stacey King at this time.

Stacey was not just an exceptional basketball champion with Chicago Bulls, he was also a champion in the fight against hunger. Just three months ago, he was the face of our March MATCHness campaign, which generated thousands of dollars’ worth of groceries for our neighbors facing food insecurity.

Stacey used his platform to empower neighbors. May he rest in power.

On Monday, the Illinois General Assembly passed its state budget for FY27, delivering key wins for hunger relief across the state.

The budget includes $70M for the Families Receiving Emergency Support for Hunger (FRESH) program to support families impacted by SNAP changes and $5M for the Farm to Food Bank program to provide fresh, local food to neighbors in need.

While expansion for Victims of Torture, Trafficking or Other Serious Crimes (VTTC) was not included for the 16,000 immigrants who lost SNAP eligibility, advocacy efforts helped reverse a $15M cut and preserve $35M in critical funding.

These wins were driven by the Save Our SNAP Coalition, with 80+ organizations generating over 10,000 advocacy actions statewide.

There is still more work ahead, but together, progress continues.
