What an amazing weekend!

Shiny Stars hosted an incredible charity badminton tournament, featuring both competitive advanced teams and recreational players battling it out in their respective brackets.

Every team played five hard-fought matches before advancing to the semis and finals. The energy was absolutely electric, and it was inspiring to see everyone come together for a great cause, some even stepping onto the court for the first time in over a decade!

*🏸 Shiny Stars Badminton Tournament - Format Update! 🏸* https://tinyurl.com/SSbadminton2026

​Tournament structure and the number of games each team will play:

*​No Skill Levels Needed:* We are not grouping teams based on self-reported expertise levels.

*​Round 1 (Random Matchups)*: Every team will be randomly matched against opponents and will play 2 initial games.

*​Ranking:* After the entire first round is complete, we will rank all teams based on the total number of points they scored in those two games.

*​Grouping:* Based on total points, teams will be divided into 3 or 4 tiers depending on the final number of registrations.

*For example* (if there are 4 groups): Top 25% go to Group A, the next 25% to Group B, the third 25% to Group C, and the final 25% to Group D.

*​Group Stage:* Within your newly assigned group, your team is guaranteed to play more games before we move on to the semi-finals and finals.

​🏆 The Bottom Line: Every single team is guaranteed to play a minimum of 3 to 4 games in the tournament!

📢 Our Community Hygiene Drive has officially concluded, and we are overflowing with gratitude for the incredible support!

To every individual, business, church, organization, and the Shiny Stars Hope Builders network that stepped up to help, thank you.

A heartfelt thank you also goes out to the amazing hosts and volunteers who managed the collection sites and coordinated logistics. Your time, energy, and advocacy are the heartbeat of this community effort.

What’s Next?
We are currently working with facility leadership to explore the possibility of organizing an in-person drop-off at the correctional center to deliver all of your generous donations. We are just awaiting final approval and scheduling from the warden, so please stay tuned. If you are interested to join us during the drop off ( once finalized ), please reach out! It would be great to have you present there.

To our amazing drive hosts across all 13 communities, and to every neighbor who donated last year: because of you, we collected an estimated 1.5 trucks of clothing. You made winter warmer directly for at least 200 people last year. 🥹

As we prepare for the inaugural Shiny Stars Summer Enrichment Camp, running from July 13th to July 24th, we are seeking a very small select group of high school and college students to serve as *Program Mentors*.

​This is an excellent opportunity for students to cultivate leadership skills while making a tangible impact on our local youth.

​As a Program Mentor, you will:

*​Gain Leadership Experience*: Assist in facilitating core curriculum modules, including Robotics, Chess, Art, Math.

*​Build Your Resume*: Receive an official Program Tutor & Mentor Service Certificate from Shiny Stars, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

*​Make a Difference*: Help create a memorable, educational summer experience for local students.
