It's another SUPER celebration at LiveWell Finney County! 🎉

Today we're celebrating Beth as she begins her 9th year with Team LiveWell!

As our Director of Community Health, Beth wears plenty of hats (and maybe a superhero cape or two!). From bringing community partners together to championing prevention, mental health, and healthier communities, Beth has spent the past eight years helping turn big ideas into meaningful action across Southwest Kansas.

⚡ Beth's superpower? Bringing people, partnerships, and possibilities together to make things happen!

Whether she's coordinating projects, leading initiatives, or finding new ways to improve community health, Beth brings dedication, creativity, and a passion for making a difference.

🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️ EVERY COMMUNITY NEEDS SUPERHEROES! 💥

Did you know that positive connections with caring adults are a powerful protective factor against youth substance use?

This Red Ribbon Week, we asked Garden City High School students who THEIR superheroes were, and they had some great answers!

🦸 Mr. Meng, Mrs. Meng, Mr. Cruz, and Coach Moquett were all named GCHS superheroes by students!

❤️ Why is connection so important?

When young people have trusted adults who encourage them, listen to them, and show up for them, they develop a stronger sense of belonging, confidence, and support.

These connections help reduce isolation, provide healthy ways to cope with challenges, and give youth someone to turn to when facing stress or peer pressure. All of these can help lower the risk of substance use.

💪 Prevention isn’t just about teaching kids to say NO to drugs. It’s also about giving them people, places, and opportunities to say YES to!

Thank you to these GCHS superheroes and all the caring adults who make a difference in the lives of young people every day!

🏆 LIVEWELL FINNEY COUNTY NAMED 2026 KANSAS PREVENTION COALITION OF THE YEAR! 🎉

We are incredibly honored to share that LiveWell Finney County was recognized as the 2026 Kansas Prevention Coalition of the Year at the Kansas Prevention Conference in Wichita on October 15!

This statewide award recognizes outstanding leadership, collaboration, innovation, and commitment to substance use prevention.

❤️ For 26 years, LiveWell Finney County has been bringing people together to build a healthier, safer community.

What began in 2000 as a small group of concerned community members working to address teen pregnancy has grown into a strong network of partners addressing substance use prevention, behavioral health, youth engagement, and other community health priorities.

From empowering young leaders through RESIST and Substance Free Athletes to implementing evidence-based prevention strategies, our work continues to evolve to meet the needs of our community.

💙 This recognition belongs to more than just LiveWell. It reflects the dedication of our incredible staff, coalition members, community partners, and the countless individuals who have supported prevention efforts throughout Finney County.

We are grateful for the schools, healthcare providers, law enforcement agencies, businesses, parents, youth, and community organizations that make this work possible.

🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️ And since we're celebrating Red Ribbon Week, we think there's no better time to recognize our community's REAL superheroes!

Our greatest superpower has always been collaboration. We don't need capes to make a difference — just people willing to work together for a healthier, safer future.

October 27 marks a special milestone for Team LiveWell! As we celebrate Red Ribbon Week and the power of making healthy, drug-free choices, we're also celebrating Tom's ONE-YEAR anniversary as our Youth Programs Coordinator! 🎉

For the past year, Tom has been working to empower young people, strengthen youth leadership, and help students make healthy, substance-free choices.

From connecting with students and community partners to bringing prevention programs to life, Tom is helping young people discover that they have the power to make a difference!

This Red Ribbon Week, we’re celebrating the power of prevention, and parents have a SUPER important role to play! ❤️

One of our most powerful prevention tools is understanding what’s happening in the lives of our young people. That’s where the Kansas Communities That Care (KCTC) Student Survey comes in!

The survey helps us understand:

🛡️ What our youth are experiencing — including alcohol, ma*****na, to***co, va**ng, and other risk behaviors.

💪 What protects our youth — positive influences, opportunities, and support systems that encourage healthy choices.

❤️ How connected our youth feel — to their peers, schools, families, and community.

This information helps LiveWell Finney County and our community partners develop programs and prevention strategies that make a REAL difference!

🌟 EVERY SUPERHERO TEAM NEEDS A CHAMPION!

Today we’re giving a SUPER shout-out to Garden City High School’s Mrs. Emily Hamlin DeLoach, our very own KCTC SUPERHERO! 🦸‍♀️💥

Mrs. Hamlin DeLoach is helping lead the charge to encourage parent participation and make sure our students have the opportunity to share their voices through the KCTC Survey. Thank you for being a champion for our youth and the power of prevention! ❤️

🦸 NOW IT’S THE PARENTS’ TURN TO SAVE THE DAY!

If you have a student in 6th, 8th, 10th, or 12th grade, be on the lookout for the KCTC parental permission form from your school.

✅ Sign and return the form to give your student the opportunity to participate!

The survey is anonymous and voluntary. Students can choose whether to participate and may skip questions.

Every student’s voice matters, and the more we learn, the better we can support young people in Finney County!

💥 POW! BAM! ZAP! In Finney County, EVERY Day is Drug Take Back Day! 🦸‍♀️💊

Today is DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, and we’re celebrating with a reminder that you don’t need to wait for a special day to be a prevention SUPERHERO! 💪

🦸 Your superpower? Keeping unused medications out of the wrong hands!

Kansas Communities That Care (KCTC) Survey results show that getting prescription medications from family or friends is one way young people access medications that aren’t prescribed to them.

The good news? YOU have the power to help prevent prescription drug misuse!

Safely disposing of unused or expired medications is one simple way to protect our youth, families, and community.

📍 In Finney County, EVERY day can be Drug Take Back Day thanks to four convenient medication disposal locations:

🔴 Finney County Law Enforcement Center

🔵 Siena Pharmacy

🟡 Genoa Pharmacy at Compass Behavioral Health

🟢 St. Catherine Hospital – Garden City Emergency Room

💥 YOUR SUPERHERO MISSION: Check your medicine cabinet! Gather those unused or expired medications and safely dispose of them at one of these locations.

🦸‍♂️ Not all superheroes wear capes. Some just clean out their medicine cabinets!

Garden City, we need a major push! 📢🏫
We are currently at 40 survey responses for our Safe Routes to School Plan, and we have a big goal to reach! Another Safe Routes to School community has already hit 200 responses, and we want to show that Garden City cares just as much—or even more—about our kids' safety. 🚲✨
Let’s turn those numbers around and make sure our voices are leading the way before the November 6 deadline!
