If you’ve been hoping to find a gentle, loving lapcat, Bernadette may be the perfect match for you.

Bernadette is an extremely loyal, affectionate cat who loves nothing more than curling up in a warm lap and keeping you company. She’s approximately 4 years old, spayed, and wonderfully mellow. She gets along well with people, dogs, and other cats, making her a great fit for many types of homes.

Her foster family absolutely adores her and can’t say enough good things about her loving personality. But as much as they love having her, Bernadette is ready for a forever home of her very own.

If you’re looking for a sweet, calm, and devoted companion, Bernadette truly fits the bill.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about Bernadette, please email us at [email protected].

Shelter stories now on exhibit at Atlantic Cape Community College
Community Collage.
It shines the light on the journeys of shelter and rescue animals.
One of the pieces is of Maddie our senior sweetheart we have currently up for adoption. Another beautiful piece is of Piggy
Mary and Josh adopted from us back in 2012.

The show will close on September 17, 2026. We absolutely love that this event honors Piggy while also helping to bring awareness to shelter animals everywhere.

Introducing Blu a 2 year old Yorkie. He is called a “Golddust Yorkie” 🤷‍♀️
Blu is a sweet 5.5 pound bundle of energy. He gets along with all humans and dogs. Blu is going to need a family committed to housebreaking. We think he’s a quick learner.
Blu is up to date on all shots and will be neutered before adoption.

Pinkie Update….

She has had her up and down days. We do feel that the antibiotics she is on are helping, and we even got a little tail wag from her this week, which was wonderful to see. Most days this week she has eaten fairly well for such a tiny 3‑pound dog, and we’ve found that ground beef is her favorite. That said, there are still some days when we struggle to get her to eat, so her appetite continues to be inconsistent.

Pinkie remains very sweet and even met a little friend this week, Blu, a new foster dog we have in the rescue. Their interaction was gentle and positive, which is encouraging, but we are still being very careful with her activity and exposure while she is recovering.

We are exploring applications for her, but at this time our main focus must be making sure she is truly on the right track medically. This will include additional bloodwork once she has finished her current course of antibiotics, so we can better understand how she is responding and what she might need going forward.

We appreciate the applicants understanding and patience as we move carefully with Pinkie’s care and future placement.

When Pinkie first arrived, she came to us as a very picky eater, and given how tiny and thin she is, we were worried from the start. We took her to one of our vet partners for an exam and senior bloodwork, hoping it would just be a matter of figuring out her diet.

Unfortunately, her bloodwork came back with some serious concerns, and we took her back immediately for more diagnostic testing. We feared she might have pyometra, which can quickly become a life-or-death emergency. Thankfully, that turned out not to be the case, which is a huge relief, but we are still not out of the woods yet.

Right now, Pinkie is on antibiotics, and we’ll be repeating her blood work soon. We’re hoping her white blood cell count comes down so we can move forward and, eventually, start looking for a loving home for her.

On top of that, caring for her day-to-day has been challenging. With no teeth, she has to be fed every few hours, and she’s very particular about the temperature and consistency of her food. It’s been a learning curve, but we’re getting better and figuring out what works for her.

Despite everything, Pinkie is the sweetest tiny senior chi, without a mean bone in her body. She is not up for adoption or foster. Please keep her in your thoughts and send any positive energy her way.
