The Canadian Osteogenesis Imperfecta Society (COIS) is proud to announce that applications for the Francis Glorieux Fellowship will open on September 21st with a closing date of November 2nd 2026, for all eligible national and international applicants. This C$75,000 per year Fellowship honors the lifetime achievements of Dr. Francis Glorieux, whose groundbreaking research and treatment for Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI)––commonly known as Brittle Bone Disease––have been both life changing and life affirming.
The late Dr. Glorieux’s pioneering treatment set the global gold standard enabling thousands of individuals born with OI to lead stronger, more productive, and fulfilling lives. This Fellowship empowers a new generation of researchers to continue his work and make significant and far-reaching contributions to the wellbeing of the OI community.
“We are incredibly proud at COIS that we can continue the great legacy of our dearly departed Dr Francis Glorieux by funding a third Francis Glorieux Fellowship ,” said Jacinta Whyte, President and Chair of COIS. “This amazing achievement has only been made possible by the very generous and ongoing support of our Canadian insurance industry friends and supporters, led by Ecclesiastical Insurance, proudly part of the Benefact Group”.
The funds to support this third fellowship were once again raised at the annual COIS Charity Golf Event, held at the Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, sponsored by Benefact Group and Ecclesiastical Insurance.
We were delighted to have been joined by past Francis Glorieux Fellowship recipients, Dr Joseph Petrucelli and Dr Ezgi Aydin , who presented sponsors with an update on their research and emphasized the critical importance of the Fellowship in helping to advance research and improve lives within the OI community… in Canada and internationally.
