🎉 Welcome to Rotary District 6910's Five Facts Friday! 🎉

We’re kicking off a new series introducing you to the people and projects that make our Rotary family so special. 💙💛 First up: our 2025–26 District Governor and fearless leader, Paul Matthews! 👏

🦅 1️⃣ Scoutmaster: An Eagle Scout and lifelong Scouting volunteer, Paul served as a Scoutmaster for 30 years and helped 120 young men earn their Eagle Scout rank.

🏡 2️⃣ Old-house enthusiast: With his wife Michele—the “brains of the operation” 😉—Paul is restoring a 1913 Athens bungalow and a 1930 mountain cabin in North Carolina.

🌎 3️⃣ Language lover: He studied five languages: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German and Nahuatl.

🏈 4️⃣ UGA fan… sometimes: With two UGA degrees and 30 years at UGA, Paul still likes to get out of town on football weekends! 😂

🌍 5️⃣ Why Rotary? For Paul, it’s the “International” in Rotary International—the opportunity to serve around the world, explore new places and build friendships along the way. 🤝❤️

We’re lucky to have Paul leading District 6910, and we can’t wait for you to meet more of the incredible Rotarians who make our District special! ⭐

📅 Stay tuned for the next week's Five Facts Friday!

Congratulations to the clubs that led the way in percentage net growth of Rotarians during the 2025-2026 Rotary year! 🎉

Our top performers are featured in the accompanying graphic. Special recognition goes to the top four—Banks County, Canton, Franklin County, and Clayton—each of which will receive a $125 cash prize, as announced by Immediate Past District Governor Jessica Fleetwood. These funds may be used in the new Rotary year to support a membership or Family of Rotary initiative.

To every club that worked hard to tell its story and share the magic of Rotary in its community: thank you. The more people hear about Rotary, the easier it becomes to grow our ranks and strengthen our impact.

As we look ahead and focus on *Creating Lasting Impact*, let’s keep the momentum going. Strong membership growth begins with sharing what we love about Rotary.
Onward together!

Every vocation is an opportunity to serve.

Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self doesn’t stop at our service projects. It shows up in the way we lead, work, build relationships, mentor others, uphold integrity, and use our talents to strengthen our communities.

The Rotary Vocational Excellence Wheel reminds us that every profession matters and every person has the ability to make a difference.

From ethics and integrity to mentorship, leadership, lifelong learning, community impact, and service to others, vocational service challenges us to bring Rotary’s values into everything we do.

For Rotary District 6910, let’s celebrate the professionals, business owners, educators, tradespeople, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs, public servants, and community leaders who are using their vocations to create positive change.

Every profession matters. Every contribution counts. Every person can make a difference.

How are you putting your vocation into service? Tell us how you’re making an impact. 👇

Every Rotarian has a story worth sharing.

Whether it’s the moment you decided to join, a project that changed a life, a friendship formed across the table, or the quiet way Rotary has shaped who you are—your story matters.

When we share our Rotary stories, we inspire others, strengthen our clubs, and grow our District 6910 family across north Georgia.

Share your story in the comments or tag a fellow Rotarian whose journey has inspired you.

💙 Rotary in Action: Supporting Children and Families Through Cancer Care 💙

The Rotary Club of Canton recently organized a counseling session for parents of children undergoing cancer treatment, along with their caregivers, at Shankara Cancer Hospital.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 29 children and their parents participated in the session, which provided an opportunity for families to receive valuable guidance, encouragement, and support during their treatment journey.

Ten Rotarians from the host club, including the Club President and Club Secretary, were there to show their support. Dr. Anand, Head of Pediatric Cancer Care at Shankara Cancer Hospital, shared important information about the “Do’s and Don’ts” for parents and caregivers as they care for their children throughout treatment and recovery.

Several parents also shared their heartfelt gratitude to Rotary and the hospital for the support they have received. ❤️

And there is even more reason to celebrate! 🎉 10 of the 29 children have already completed their treatment and are now in the maintenance phase. The photos shared are of children who have successfully completed their chemotherapy treatment — a wonderful reminder of the hope and possibilities that come from compassionate care and community support.

This project, GG 2570123, was implemented by the Rotary Club of Bengaluru West in partnership with the Rotary Club of Canton during the 2024–25 Rotary year.

🌎💙 This is what Rotary does best — bringing people together, supporting families, and creating hope where it is needed most.
