🎉 Five Facts Friday: Meet Peter Gleichman! 🎉

Next up in our Five Facts Friday spotlight is Peter Gleichman! 💙✨

🎸 Rock & Roll: In 1973, Peter’s original band opened for Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band. As Peter likes to say, “I’ll never forget opening for Bruce Springsteen… and I’m sure he won’t either!” 🤘🎶⭐

📻 Broadcasting History: During the Blizzard of ’78, Peter was a CBS Radio stringer in New Hampshire and was part of the lead story on the nationwide broadcast World News Roundup with Douglas Edwards. 🌨️📡🎙️

🎤 A Lifelong Musician: His first rock-and-roll band, The Beatniks, performed at the 1965 New York World’s Fair—on stage at the New York State Pavilion! 🎶🗽🏙️

⚖️ Law & Service: After law school, Peter served as a judicial clerk for the New Hampshire Supreme Court before entering private practice. 📚⚖️👏

🥁 Community Through Music: Peter has played percussion in community concert bands for 27 years, including with the Atlanta Concert Band since 2002. For him, music is another way to serve his community. 🎵🥁💙🤝

Congratulations, Ed Davis!

Please join us in congratulating Ed Davis of the Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary Club on being selected as the Rotary District 6910 District Governor Nominee Designate! Ed will go on to serve as District Governor for 2029–2030. 💙💛

A Rotarian for 24 years, Ed has a long history of service and leadership throughout Rotary. His Rotary journey began after being selected for the District 6910 Group Study Exchange Team, traveling to Brazil in 2001. Since then, he has been a member of Rotary clubs in Dahlonega, Macon, and North Carolina, serving in a variety of leadership roles along the way.

As president of the Downtown Macon Rotary Club in 2016–17, Ed helped lead the club to 100% Paul Harris Club status and recognition as Large Club of the Year for District 6920. He returned to his hometown of Dahlonega in 2023 and joined the Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary Club in 2024, where he currently serves as the club’s Rotary Foundation Chair.

We’re excited to see Ed’s experience, passion for service, and love for Rotary help lead District 6910 into the future! 🌎🤝

🎉 A VERY SPECIAL ROTARY CONGRATULATIONS TO DR. ALLEN BOWNS! 🎉

Rotary District 6910 is incredibly proud to congratulate Dr. Allen Bowns on his induction as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists (ICD) this past weekend in San Antonio, Texas! He was one of only six dentists in Georgia selected for this prestigious honor this year! 🦷🏆

Fellowship in the ICD is extended by invitation only to dentists who demonstrate exceptional professional achievement, leadership, high ethical standards, and a commitment to service. With fewer than 3% of dentists in the United States receiving this distinction, it is truly one of the highest honors in the dental profession.

And for Rotary, this recognition is especially meaningful. The ICD’s core values of Integrity, Leadership, and Service are qualities Dr. Bowns demonstrates every day—not only through his dental profession, but through his commitment to his community and to Rotary.

As we celebrate this incredible achievement, we are also excited to celebrate Dr. Bowns as he prepares to serve as Rotary District 6910’s District Governor for the 2027–28 Rotary year. 🎶✨ What a night of Rotary fellowship! ✨🎶

On September 29, more than 60 Rotarians, friends, prospective members, and guests from the Athens, Classic City of Athens, and Oconee County Rotary Clubs gathered at Wire Park in Watkinsville for an evening filled with live music, laughter, fellowship, and fun! ❤️

It’s evenings like these that remind us that Rotary is about more than service—it’s about the friendships and connections we build along the way. 🤝💙

Rotary District 6910 extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and fellow Rotarians of Past District Governor Anton J. Zellman, affectionately known as “Anton from Canton.”

A longtime member of the Canton Rotary Club, PDG Anton served as District 6910 Governor in 2013–14 and dedicated decades to serving Rotary and his community. He will be remembered for his lively personality, charisma, personal warmth, and his unique talent as a “mind-reading” mentalist.

Anton passed away peacefully with his wife, Lois, by his side after a period of declining health.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lois, his family, friends, and the many Rotarians whose lives he touched through his years of service.

In lieu of a local service, donations in Anton’s honor may be made to the Coins for Alzheimer’s Trust (CART) Fund.

👩‍👧 Making Rotary history: She and her daughter, Christina Pierce, are the first mother/daughter members of their Rotary Club! 🎉🏆💙

🌟 A family of Rotarians: Christina joined Rotary on July 14, 2026, and her children, Alexander and Calleigh, also became Paul Harris Fellows that day. Talk about a proud family moment! 👏💙👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

🎂 Creative partners: She loves baking and decorating cakes with her daughter, who has also helped behind the scenes with events and service projects for nearly two decades. 🧁🎨🤝

📸 Family photographer: Her favorite hobby is photography, and her favorite subjects are her daughter and two grandchildren—Alexander, 9, and Calleigh, 4. ❤️📷👧👦

🎄 Christmas enthusiast: Her favorite holiday is Christmas, thanks to her love of colorful lights and decorations! ✨🎅❤️
