The market is open for orders!

Welcome new-to-us Farmers Carly of Echoes Farmstead and Josh, Sarah, and Family of Barefoot Farmstead!

Thanks for creating a WARM welcome and getting to know them by trying everything they have listed: Mixed lettuces (rinsed and bagged and head lettuces), Kale, Kohlrabi, Green Onions, Endive, Napa Cabbage, Peashoots, Parsley, Daikon Radishes

Everything is listed by the farmer who grew it, so you know exactly where your food is from. (look for Echoes and Barefoot this week)

You might also find and enjoy: Cherry Tomatoes, Green Beans, Okra, Yellow Squash, Cucumbers, Broccoli, Lettuces, Strawberries, Fresh Mushrooms, Microgreens, Onions, Snap Peas, Radishes

Evening temperatures above 60F and farmers irrigating A LOT during the drought, means all their hard work is starting to pay off. Some even grow in high tunnels to get you summer produce as early as now! Thanks for supporting food grown without synthetic fertilizers within 80 miles of you!

The market is open for orders Friday 9pm - Monday 9pm and pickup is between 5-6:30pm Wednesdays in Gainesville, Clarkesville, and Clayton.

The market is open for preorders until 9pm Mondays and pickup Wednesday!

This week you might still find: Cucumbers, Spinach, Cilantro, Lettuces, Strawberries, Stinging Nettles, Kale, Chard, Herbs, Arugula, Microgreens, Fresh Mushrooms, Onions, Pak Choy, and Baby Asian Greens Mixes

Try some Black Pearl King Oyster Mushrooms from Dream Big Farms Mushrooms this week! They are denser and meatier than typical pearl or blue oyster mushrooms, with thicker stems. Try cooking like you would scallops, in thick round slices with olive oil and garlic.

Fresh ONIONS are coming in strong this week from Barefoot Farmstead! You basically get 2 for one because you can slice the onions bulb part like you would a storage onion, AND chop the green part for a spring garnish. Cook the bulb part with your proteins and then throw the green on top before serving! Tacos, Casseroles, Chili Dogs, Omelets, Stir-frys, etc!

Swiss Chard is going strong from Crooked Oak Farm and The Moon Farm. Chard seems to be the most underrated and under utilized of the spring greens. They can range from bitter to sweet depending on how you prepare them. They pack amazing nutrients and colors (polyphenols). Think of them like this: in the spinach family, but can be cooked like collards. The longer you cook them, the more sweet they become. Just don't let them go to mush. Love Chard, share your favorite preparation in the comments.

Spinach abounds this week! We are fortunate to have a great selection of spinach from The Moon Farm and Crooked Oak this week! Blend it for green smoothies, mix into salads, fold into omelets, toss into soups, layer into sandwich wraps.

The market is open for orders Friday 9pm - Monday 9pm and pickup is between 5-6:30pm Wednesdays in Gainesville, Clarkesville, and Clayton.

Know that farmers are working REALLY hard right now. Lot's of planting and not much harvesting. Be sure to send your favorite produce farmer an encouraging message this week. Something simple like "you got this!" or "Thinking of you, and hope planting is going well." Try to shy away from adding more pressure by asking "when will you have this available?"

Good evening Locavores, the market is open for preorders!

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This farmers market allows you to preorder directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!

PICKUP TIME is Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m. in Clayton, Clarkesville, or Gainesville.

If you have any trouble or questions at all, we are here to help; simply send us a message.

Thanks for supporting local farmers and artisans!

The market is now open for orders! We're thrilled to have connected Clio of Wildflours Baking Co. with Murray and Paula of Daysprings Farm. We're so fortunate to have Certified Organic grains being grown and milled right here in our community.

Baking with local wheat can be a challenge—learning a new flour with every harvest. But Clio saw a unique opportunity to create a standout product while supporting local farmers. She loves driving to the farm where it was grown to chat about recipes and heirloom grains with Murray and Paula of DaySpring Farms

The taste is worth every tear shed in the kitchen while she perfected the process. Baking 100% sourdough bread is a journey, after all!

We are blown away by her classic loaves and all her new sourdough creations. We're so glad she took the extra leap to partner with local farms and bring you the best of the best through Northeast Georgia Locally Grown. Give them both a follow and send Clio a note of thanks with your next order.

Meet Tanya!
An Environmental Engineer who moved back to the family farm in Lumpkin County and put her knowledge of water and physics to grow strawberries vertically! Tanya is on the journey to creating a complex-yet-simple closed loop system that recycles all-natural nutrients and grows strawberries just about year 'round. This cool weather might be exactly what the strawberries need to start flowering for fall fruit!

We are so excited she is keeping the farm in the family and continuing to grow good food for the community!

Until the fresh Certified Organic strawberries pick back up, you can support her journey through Northeast Georgia Locally Grown and find Strawberry Roan Farm's: Strawberry Jam, Strawberry Pies, Freeze-dried Strawberries, and her Mixed Produce Boxes!
