I kinda missed yesterday, so I copied this post to share. It doesn't have to be a particular day to celebrate survivors, they should be celebrated everyday.
Today is National Cancer Survivors Day — a day to honor all of us who’ve faced this journey and come out the other side.
Survivor.
It’s more than just a word — it’s a badge of honor, a reminder of the battles fought, the fears faced, and the strength discovered within ourselves.
For me, being here means I’ve fought hard. It means I’ve faced days when my body was tired, my mind raced with questions, and my heart whispered doubts. But I keep showing up. I keep choosing to live, to heal, to hope, and welcome the Holy Spirit.
Surviving cancer doesn’t mean the fight ends when treatment stops. It’s about what happens next — living in a body forever changed, learning to embrace the ways of change, holding space for fear while still choosing joy. It’s about recognizing that sometimes I hate what I see in the mirror - in the moment - and yet I am grateful for the grace and strength I’ve gained.
To everyone out there walking this path: you are proof of resilience. You carry your scars and your stories, and they make you who you are. You’re a light, a fighter, a reminder that life after cancer can still be full, meaningful, and worth living deeply.
And I believe in H.E.R.E. — not just as a place, but as a way of being.
Healing — because we all need to mend what’s broken, inside and out.
Encouraging — to lift each other up when the road gets tough.
Restoring — finding peace and strength in ourselves as we move forward.
Empowering — taking control of our stories, our lives, and our futures.
We’re not just what happened to us. We’re what we choose to become.
Today, I celebrate the quiet, everyday courage it takes to survive — and thrive — after cancer. We are here, we are resilient, and we are alive.
