During Teacher Appreciation Week, six deserving teachers received grants for their classrooms and were surprised with their award at the GISD Service Awards on Friday. Congrations to Kelly Smith (Edison Elementary), Beth Dunning (Edison Elementary), Isreal Garcia (Chalmers Elementary), Sarah Welch (Gainesville Intermediate), Diana De Santiago (Gainesville Junior High), Kristal Young (Gainesville High School).

Your board president, Christa Call & Executive Director, Arin Lane want to wish you all a wonderful and happy summer! We can't wait to share the great things we have in store for the 2026-2027 school year!!

One of the grants that Edison received was a library of books, and Mrs. Franco has done a great job at involving the community to come in and read these books to our students! Thank you First State Bank for taking time out of your day to come read these books to our classes!

We're on a roll today with receiving GRANTS IN ACTION pictures from our teachers in GISD!

Ms. Young's culinary students used the edible ink printer to make a cake for the HOSA banquet. Students enlarged the HOSA logo and printed it on a sugar icing sheet to decorate on a sheet cake.

Great job, culinary students! Having tasted your food on many occasions first hand, I can promise this cake was delicious!!!

Another exciting grant from GEF's innovative teaching grants!

Ms. Young's students are reading "Financial Literacy for Teens". She plans to use the curriculum at the beginning of the school year before Chromebooks are distributed. She says, "Thank you for supporting my classroom!"

🌱🐣✨ Exciting transformations happening in Ms. Parrish's classroom!

Her students witnessed the magic of life as their eggs began to hatch into chicks and their butterfly chrysalises were ready to emerge! 🦋💖

They are so grateful to GEF for providing this stimulating learning opportunity through our innovative grants!

Today our superintendent and executive director were able to visit Mrs. Hefley’s forensic science class as they were able to participate in a virtual autopsy field trip. Students were able to learn every step taken from beginning to end of performing a thorough and successful autopsy! Just another example of how impactful our grants are for the students of GISD.
