🎒✏️ Happy Back-to-School Day! 📚❤️

Today officially kicks off another school year, and we want to wish all of our PKA kids, families, teachers, staff, and everyone across MSAD 72 an amazing first day!

There’s always something special about the first day of school, new teachers, new classrooms, seeing old friends, making new ones, and starting another year full of opportunities to learn and grow.

To all the kids: Be kind. Be brave. Work hard. And most importantly, be yourself. We are so excited to see what you accomplish this year!

We’ll see many of you very soon when PKA kicks off our fall session! ❤️

🎒 PKCA will be at Molly Ockett School’s Welcome Back to School Night! 🎒

Be sure to stop by the Pequawket Kids Charitable Association (PKCA) table and say hello! We’ll be there to answer questions about our Pequawket Kids After-School Program (PKA), share information about our programs, and kick off another great school year with our families and community.

While I was preparing to speak at the School Board meeting yesterday, I had to pull together a lot of information from our first year, and one number really stood out to me.

79 scholarships.

That is the total number of scholarships PKA awarded throughout last year when you add together the scholarships provided during each individual session.

Since I started rebuilding this program, one of my biggest goals has always been simple: I never want to deny a child access to PKA because of their family’s financial situation.

I also never want a parent to have to sit at the kitchen table and choose between after-school care for their child and groceries, electricity, heating oil, a car payment, or another necessity their family needs.

Everything is getting more expensive, and families are feeling it. Kids shouldn’t have to be the ones who miss out because of that.

Looking at those 79 scholarships yesterday made me realize that I truly believe we are succeeding at the goal we set. We are giving kids a place to learn, have fun, be active, make friends, and belong, regardless of what their family can afford.

And that’s something I’m incredibly proud of.

If anyone is interested, I’ll be speaking tonight at the MSAD 72 School Board meeting at 7:00 PM at Molly Ockett School about the PKCA 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant and how our first year went.

I’ll be sharing some of our successes, the impact the grant has had on our kids and families, and the places where I feel we can continue to improve moving forward.

We’re incredibly proud of what PKA accomplished during our first year of the grant, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to share some of that with the School Board and our community.

The new school year will be here before we know it, so make sure your child’s spot is reserved. Registration closes September 11, and the fall session begins September 14!

Students from New Suncook and Brownfield-Denmark will have transportation provided to Molly Ockett School.

What an amazing way to wrap up our summer! ☀️🍔🌭

Today we celebrated the end of our PKA summer program with a BBQ surrounded by our kids, families, staff, and some pretty incredible people who continue to show up for what we are building.

This summer has been filled with so many memories, field trips, activities, time outside, learning, laughing, new friendships, and a whole lot of fun. Seeing everyone together today was the perfect reminder that PKA is about so much more than childcare. It’s about creating a place where kids feel like they belong and where families know they have a community behind them.

A HUGE thank you to The River Church for providing the food for today’s BBQ and for once again supporting our kids and families. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and partnership. ❤️

And thank you to our staff, volunteers, families, and everyone who helped make this summer possible. None of this happens because of one person, it happens because people continue to come together for our kids.

PKA Summer 2026 is officially a wrap, and what a summer it was. 💙

☀️💦 What an incredible day at PKA! 💦☀️

The kids had an absolute blast today!

They were outside, running around, climbing, sliding, bouncing, laughing, and making some pretty amazing summer memories with their friends. ❤️

Sometimes the best days are the simplest ones, sunshine, water, friends, and the chance to just be kids.

A huge thank-you again to White Mountain Party Rentals for helping us make today so special. The smiles in these pictures say everything!

We are so grateful we get to create days like this for our kids.

A huge thank you to White Mountain Party Rentals for not only helping make today such an incredible day for our PKA kids, but also for their generous $100 donation to PKCA! ❤️

That donation will go directly toward helping support children who need scholarships to attend PKA. We never want finances to be the reason a child misses out on the opportunity to be part of our program.

Every donation, no matter the amount, helps us open the door for another child to learn, grow, make friends, and create memories with us.

We are incredibly grateful to have local businesses that believe in our kids and in what we are building through PKA and the Pequawket Kids Charitable Association.
