Today marks the end of another amazing year of PKA.

To celebrate, I brought in pizza for the kids, and Penny brought cupcakes. Before I headed out for the day, I spent some time talking with the kids about what a great year it has been and how much I hope we’ll see many of them again this summer.

One of my favorite moments was when one of the kids asked me to sign his yearbook. It’s a small thing, but it meant a lot to me. I hope years from now he looks back, still has that yearbook, and remembers the great memories, friendships, and experiences he had during his time here.

I truly love these kids. Watching them learn, grow, make friends, and build confidence throughout the year has been incredibly rewarding.

Most importantly, thank you to our staff. They are the real heroes of this program. They show up every day for these kids, build relationships, provide encouragement, and create a safe and welcoming environment where our students can thrive. PKA would not be what it is today without their dedication and hard work.

Thank you to all of our families for trusting us with your children. Have an amazing summer, and we hope to see many of you again soon!

Great news!

I’m excited to share that the Pequawket Kids After-School Program (PKA) budget for the 2026–2027 school year has officially been submitted to the Maine Department of Education and has been approved!

This approval allows us to continue providing academic support, enrichment opportunities, wellness activities, and a safe, engaging environment for the students and families we serve throughout MSAD 72.

I also want to recognize and thank MSAD 72, Superintendent Jay Robinson, the principals, teachers, and staff for their continued commitment to our students and to the success of PKA. The strong partnership between the district and PKA has been instrumental in helping us grow and provide meaningful opportunities for children across our communities.

As we prepare for another school year, I am excited about what lies ahead. Together, we will continue to support our students academically, socially, and emotionally while creating experiences they will remember for years to come.

Thank you to our staff, volunteers, families, community partners, and supporters who help make this program possible. Let's make 2026–2027 another amazing year at PKA!

We are currently looking for scholarship donations to help support families participating in our PKA Summer Program.

Our goal is to make sure every child who wants to attend has the opportunity to be part of a safe, fun, enriching, and supportive summer program, regardless of a family’s financial situation. These scholarships help cover the cost for children who may not otherwise be able to participate.

The PKA Summer Program provides kids with enrichment activities, outdoor play, social-emotional support, academic engagement, and a place where they can feel connected, encouraged, and cared for throughout the summer.

Any donation, big or small, can make a real difference for a local child and family.

If you are interested in helping sponsor a child or contributing toward our scholarship fund, please contact me at [email protected].

Big things are coming for this summer at PKA! ☀️

Registration for our Summer Program will be opening in the next couple of days, and we’re really excited about what we have planned this year.

The program will run starting August 3rd through the Thursday before school starts, and will take place Monday through Thursday each week.

One of our big announcements this year, we’ve partnered with S**o Valley Lanes 🎳

That means once a week (maybe twice), our kids will be heading over for:

* Bowling
* Arcade games
* And more fun activities

Best part? It’s fully covered by PKA.

We’re building a program full of fun, engagement, and opportunities for kids to just be kids this summer.

Stay tuned, registration opens soon!

After-school programs across Maine are at risk.

Recent federal legislation, “big beautiful bill”, did not include funding for programs like ours. While this doesn’t impact our current funding immediately, it absolutely puts the future of these programs in jeopardy.

This matters.

After-school programs are not just “babysitting.” They provide structured enrichment, academic support, tutoring, and a safe environment for kids during critical hours. The data is clear, students in these programs show improved academic performance, better behavior, and stronger social development.

I’m asking everyone to take a few minutes to reach out to your congressional representatives and senators. Let them know how important these programs are to our communities, our families, and most importantly, our kids.

I will be heading to Augusta to speak on this, and if needed, I’ll go to DC. This is something worth fighting for.

Our kids deserve these opportunities. Let’s make sure their voices, and their futures, aren’t overlooked.

Feel free to share.

📢 Attention Teachers 📢

If you have students in your classroom who attend the Pequawket Kids After-School Program (PKA), you will be receiving emails from the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) between now and June.

Each email will contain a very quick, one-question survey focused on student behavior and whether you’ve seen improvement since attending PKA.

Once you complete the survey for a student, you will not receive any additional emails for that student.

We kindly ask that if you’re able to take a moment to respond, it would be greatly appreciated. Your feedback plays a critical role in supporting the success and continuation of our program.

I have also communicated with all principals and the superintendent to help ensure this information is shared with you.

Thank you for your continued support and for everything you do for our students! 💙
