Hunger doesn't always look the way people expect.

The latest Map the Meal Gap study from Feeding America puts numbers to what we see every day at Brazosport Cares.

📊 56,890 people in Brazoria County are experiencing food insecurity. That's nearly 1 in 7 of our neighbors.
🏠 62% of people experiencing food insecurity earn too much to qualify for SNAP, yet still struggle to make ends meet.

The challenge extends beyond our community. Texas now has the highest total number of people experiencing food insecurity in the nation, with more than 6 million Texans facing hunger.

At Brazosport Cares, we believe understanding hunger is the first step toward solving it. That's why we've created The State of Hunger in Brazoria County—a new resource that explores the latest local data, explains what it means, and addresses common misconceptions about hunger.

A huge thank you to Olin for helping set students up for success this school year! 🎒📚

Their incredible team packed nearly 100 backpacks filled with school supplies for students who will shop in our high school School Markets. These backpacks will help ensure students have the tools they need to walk into the classroom feeling prepared and confident on the very first day.

We're looking for a Volunteer Food Drive Coordinator to help organize community food drives that keep our pantry shelves stocked and our neighbors fed.

From connecting with local businesses and schools to coordinating donation pickups and cheering on food drive hosts, this role is perfect for someone who enjoys building relationships and making a real difference in our community.

We're doing a little reorganizing in our warehouse, and we have furniture we no longer need!

All items are first come first serve on Monday, June 29th, from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM, and anyone who would like to pick up is responsible for loading and transporting.
