South Whidbey at Home

South Whidbey at Home South Whidbey at Home is a membership-based nonprofit helping older South Whidbey residents remain in their homes & active in the community they love!

We provide volunteer assistance, empowering educational opportunities, & social activities. Members of SW@Home are age 55 and older and for a reasonable annual fee have access to volunteer services, a resource list, and social activities. Supporters are any age and can use the list of and are invited to all social activities, but receive no volunteer help. Volunteers are any age as well, and will

help members with small home and garden chores, errands, rides, daily check-ins or weekly visits, help with pets or technology, or whatever the volunteer wants to offer. Membership in SW@Home is $240/household. There is no additional charge at this time for a second member from the same household as we attempt to keep our membership affordable to all. Donations to keep our program serving Seniors living on South Whidbey are always welcome, and much needed. Our program is up and running for over 4 years now, since July 2016.

On Saturday, August 22nd, we had our annual South Whidbey at Home picnic for members, volunteers, and supporters. It was extra special this year because we're celebrating our 10th anniversary. Thank you to everyone who attended and everyone who helped to make it a wonderful event! And thank you to our volunteers and donors!

Our Creative Companions program is tomorrow, July 30th at 10:00 here in our conference room. It's for people living with dementia, cognitive decline, or other neurological issues like Parkinson's etc and their care partners to come and do an art project together and to connect in a different way away from the daily drudgery. It's modeled after a program that was started at MoMA in New York. Being creative is great for everyone's brains and it's also a great way to connect with other couples who are in similar situations. Please just come if you're interested. It's free for everyone - you do not need to be a member! We supply all of the materials and it's a no stress easy art project - no art experience needed.
