Hi friends and neighbors,

Bayview Hall — our beloved and beautiful 1927 community gathering place on Whidbey Island — is in the middle of something big.

We're applying for a grant from the Washington State Historical Society that could bring in significant funding to restore the dance stage, do some important building work, and build outdoor storage for our chairs and tables. It's a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect a building that belongs to all of us.

But we need your help — and there are two simple ways you can make a real difference:

1️⃣ Log Your Volunteer Hours

If you've ever helped out at Bayview Hall — setting up for events, cleaning, doing repairs, hauling things around, mowing the lawn, anything — those hours count toward our grant match at $41/hour.

Hours go all the way back to July 2021, so don't sell yourself short!

It takes about 2 minutes. If you've volunteered regularly (say, once a month), there's a "monthly recurring" option so you only have to submit once and we'll do the math.

2️⃣ Write a Letter of Support

Grant reviewers want to know that this hall matters to real people. A short, personal note — even just a few sentences — from neighbors, renters, community members, and longtime friends of the hall carries serious weight.

You don't need to be a writer. Just answer one simple question:

"What does Bayview Hall mean to you, and why should it be preserved?"

Bayview Hall has been here since 1927 — built by volunteers, on donated land, for the community. The people who built it didn't have much, but they showed up. We're trying to do the same thing.
