In the fall of 2024, a group of kids on a Lego robotics team decided to do something remarkable. After a stunning season, the kids decided to go the distance by devoting themselves to the year’s innovation project DESPITE the season coming to a close. Hence, WEcycle was born.

As their coach, I will always be proud of these remarkable kids, these students, these heartfelt human beings, for giving their all to one another and to our community.

This project is born out of a desire to do good, to learn and grow, and to meet a community need. This project was devoted to the “we”, to all of us, and has our community’s best interest at heart.

To think, WE started out with studying the way wax worms digest plastics and learning about the science behind the process, endocrine disrupters, and myriad adverse effects of plastics and other pollutants. Then came the recycling, learning about supply chains, learning about our community, learning about events, learning about nonprofit management, and marketing, but always, ALWAYS, remaining a team.

Now, we turn to the future. Community partners. Education. Family events. And more. Our next season is upon us. WE are now an official nonprofit organizationnization

WE are always LEGOgel, the lego robotics team where it all started, and I tip my hat to these outstanding citizens (and their faithful families). Please join me in congratulating the founding student of WEcycle, Shiloh, Logan, Maya, River, Aubrey, and Luke! Congratulations, kiddos. Well done.
