❤️ Help us keep the Butler Bucks Store stocked! 🖤

Have you ever wondered what the Butler Bucks Store is? 🛍️

Throughout the school day, students can earn Butler Bucks from ANY staff member for things like being kind, making good choices, listening, helping others, following expectations, and just being a great Butler student. ❤️

Once they save up enough Butler Bucks, they get to visit the store and “shop” for prizes they’ve earned! 🎉 It’s such a fun way to recognize and reward the positive things our kids are doing every day.

In the past, the Butler Booster Club has purchased the items needed to keep the store stocked using our fundraising dollars. As participation in some of our fundraisers has decreased, those dollars simply don’t stretch as far as they once did — especially when we are also helping fund field trips, school activities, teacher appreciation, field day, 5th-grade yearbooks, celebrations and so much more.

So this year, we’re asking our Butler families and community for a little help! 🖤

The Butler Bucks Store opens NEXT WEEK, so we are hoping to get items in as quickly as possible so the shelves are ready for our students! 🎉🛍️

🛒 We’ve created an Amazon Wish List where you can purchase an item directly for the Butler Bucks Store.

💵 Prefer to just contribute? We’re also accepting monetary donations, and 100% of those donations will be used to purchase items for the store.

There is absolutely no obligation to donate — but if your family loves the Butler Bucks Store and wants to see it continue for our students, this is a great way to directly support it.

Whether it’s one small item, a few dollars, sharing our post, or participating in our fundraisers — it all helps us keep programs like this going for our Butler kids. ❤️🖤

We are excited to see you tomorrow OR THURSDAY this week to return money and/or check out candy to sell.

There is NO school on Friday, so stop by on Wednesday or Thursday in the morning or after school.

I know these hours don't work for everybody-- if I was somewhere in town that is centrally located on a weekend late morning, would you stop by?

We want to take a minute to clear up something we’ve heard quite a bit since candy sales started this year.

The Booster Club did NOT choose to raise the price of the candy bars. The company we purchase them from increased their pricing, which unfortunately meant the selling price had to increase as well. This was not a decision we made because we wanted to charge families or our community more....

We were at Butler before and after school multiple days last week, and it was honestly disheartening to hear how many students were saying things like, “My mom said nobody will pay that much for a candy bar, it's stupid” or “My dad said if YOU GUYS wouldn’t have raised the price, I could sell.”

We understand that everything costs more right now. We feel that too. Everybody does. But we also want families to understand why this fundraiser matters so much.

The money raised through candy sales goes directly back to the students and staff at Butler.

The Booster Club helps pay for EVERY SINGLE STUDENT at Butler, along with the staff members who go, to attend field trips — and these aren’t simply trips down the street to a park. Our kids have opportunities to visit places like:

• Blank Park Zoo
• Science Center of Iowa
• Iowa Wild hockey games
• Reiman Gardens
• Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad
• And other educational experiences

Field trips are only part of it....

Booster Club funds also help provide:

• Family Engagement
• Butler Carnival Fun Night
• Pizza parties and student celebrations
• Butler Bucks Store
• Playground equipment
• Nik from Southside Martial Arts
• Teacher Appreciation Week
• Yearbooks for our graduating 5th graders
• T-shirts for every student and staff member participating in Field Day at the stadium
• Classroom and school needs throughout the year
• And so much more

These things do not just happen. They have to be paid for.

When our families participate in fundraisers, we are able to continue providing these experiences without repeatedly asking parents to pay out of pocket.

If fundraising participation drops significantly, eventually choices have to be made. That could mean families paying directly for field trips and activities, or some of the extras our students currently receive simply not being possible anymore.

Nobody loves asking kids to sell things. Nobody loves higher prices. We certainly didn’t ask for the price increase either.

But we DO love being able to tell our teachers, “Yes, Booster Club can help with that.” We love being able to send an entire grade on a field trip without worrying about which families can afford it. We love giving our kids experiences and memories outside of the classroom.

So if your child brings a permission slip home to sell chocolate, please encourage them. Share it with family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, or on social media. Go on a family walk and stop at a few neighborhood houses. Practice what your child should say when asked what they are fundraising for. Every box sold truly helps.

If you threw your permission slip away, send a note to school with your child that they can come home with a box and have them stop by to see us this week.

And most importantly, please remember that the parents volunteering with Booster Club are working incredibly hard to make these opportunities possible for all of our Butler kids.

Thank you to every family who sells, buys, donates, volunteers, shares a post, or supports Butler in any way. It matters more than you may realize.

🎉🍫 BUTLER CANDY BAR SALE IS BACK! 🍫🎉

Starting Friday, September 11th – Monday, September 28th, our students will be selling World’s Finest Chocolate to raise money for school projects, field trips, technology, recess equipment, rewards parties, and more! 🙌

‼️Please note that things look different this year. Candy bars are $2 each. The entire variety case is $80, with 40 bars in each case. Mint meltaways are $5 a box. A case is $80, with 16 individual boxes in a case.

🍬 Flavors include Caramel, Almond, Crisp, Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate with Pretzel, Wafer, and Mint Meltaways.

✨ Every dollar raised helps fund things our teachers and students need but aren’t always covered by the budget.

👩‍👩‍👦‍👦 Parents—be on the lookout for permission slips coming home. Please make sure the permission slip is signed and returned for your child to participate. Candy will go home with students on Friday, September 11th.
