Fort Dodge Study Club

Fort Dodge Study Club Study Club celebrates its 86th year as a FD women’s organization with a mission of promoting philanthropic service, charitable giving, & community spirit.

In 1935, eleven progressive and philanthropic women came together with a vision. Fort Dodge Study Club was formed to: advance and encourage the study of culture, arts and sciences; promote charity and contribute to civic organizations; and create and extend social life in the community. Today, Study Club continues its tradition of being a prestigious local women's organization with a mission of philanthropic service and fundraising, community spirit, social networking and friendship.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude! 💙

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, our Joy of Reading fundraiser didn’t just meet our goal of $25,000—we surpassed it, raising an amazing $33,000 to support the Joy of Reading and Emily Joy Averill Foundation.

This wouldn’t have been possible without:
✨ Our generous sponsors
✨ The individuals and businesses who donated to our silent auction
✨ Every person who showed up, supported, and believed in this cause

Because of you, we’re able to put more books into the hands of students and continue building a love of reading that lasts a lifetime.

From the bottom of our hearts—thank you for making this such a meaningful and impactful event. 💫

The Emily Joy Averill Foundation was established in 2011. They've been supporting and promoting literacy and access to books to all kids in the Fort Dodge area ever since. You can find the JoyMobile at schools, events, and other locations in the Fort Dodge community. They're definitely living out their mission: "Get books in the hands of kids in Fort Dodge."

True!
The original van was donated by the Trinity Regional Medical Center. A van that was used to transport medical supplies became a mobile library. The JoyMobile has been faithfully serving the Fort Dodge community for years, but is showing signs that it's ready to retire. Along with other fundraising efforts, The Emily Joy Averill Foundation has teamed up with Study Club to hopefully make the transition to a new JoyMobile as seamless as possible and keep books in the hands of our kids.

True or False? The JoyMobile was originally a medical supply transport vehicle.
