What’s one resource you just learned about that not everyone might know AND can be used most anywhere geographically?

A lot of organizations want to “raise awareness.” We want to raise the baseline.

Rural veterans and military spouses don’t need pity. They don’t need another pamphlet. They need someone to show up before they have to ask.

We aren’t a charity case organization. We are an opportunity organization. We do front porch service.

If you’re tired of the system and ready for some actual answers, follow along.

Food is how rural America says I love you.

It’s also one of the things nobody talks about when it comes to mental health. What you eat affects how you feel. That’s not a wellness trend, that’s just real life. And if you’re the one doing the cooking, the planning, the grocery runs at the small town store, and the figuring out what’s for dinner every single night, that weight adds up too.

Starting next Sunday, we’re launching The Sunday Table.

Every week we’re dropping a full meal prep guide built for real rural pantries. A slow cooker meal, a sheet pan dinner, a 30-minute skillet, a breakfast, and one heirloom family recipe. High protein, good food, no specialty stores, no ingredients you can’t find within 45 minutes of your house.

Dig through your recipe boxes this week. Find the one written in someone else’s handwriting or tied to a memory. Drop it in the comments or send it to us. We are building a community cookbook here, and your family belongs in it.

First one drops next Sunday.

What if I told you not everyone wants to see you win?

Not your enemies. People inside the system that’s supposed to serve you.

We’ve seen it firsthand… organizations reported, questioned, pushed back on- not for doing something wrong, but for doing something different. For bringing options. For showing up where others don’t.

This is the pattern that keeps rural veterans stuck. Gatekeeping dressed up as advocacy.

Know your options. Ask hard questions. Advocate for yourself. That’s what we’re here for.

We are a veteran and family first organization and believe you have a right to choose what is best for you.

Military spouse mental health matters. Check out what HomeFront Haven is doing and look out for their application window for the next retreat!

🎙️ NEW EPISODE ALERT 🎙️

What if support for military spouses didn’t begin at the breaking point?

In this week’s episode of Ruck Up Buttercup, I sit down with Patty Sandoval, military spouse, public health professional, and Founder & CEO of HomeFront Haven

Together, we talk about the invisible weight many military spouses carry, the emotional labor of being “the strong one,” and why connection and community are some of the most powerful forms of support we can offer before crisis ever hits.

We also discuss HomeFront Haven’s mission to create preventative, peer-based mental health support for military spouses and partners, as well as the impact of their first retreat and what happens when spouses finally have a space where they feel seen, understood, and supported.

This conversation is honest, validating, and a reminder that you don’t have to carry everything alone.

💛 Real stories. Real struggles. Real strength.
