Cooking Matters is a cooking-based nutrition education course designed to teach economically constrained families how to prepare healthy, tasty meals on a limited budget. Professional chefs and nutrition educators volunteer their time and expertise to lead hands-on tours and courses that show adults how to purchase and prepare nutritious foods in healthful, safe, and tasty ways. This can mean the difference between feeding families for just one night and making sure they have the knowledge, skills, and resources to prepare healthy meals for a lifetime.

Sign up for Cooking Matters at the Store Commissary Tours on June 27th and 28th. These fun, interactive tours allow participants to practice food shopping skills like buying fruits and vegetables on a budget, comparing unit prices, reading food labels, and identifying whole grains. Participants will go home with $10.00 in free healthy groceries for their families, a reusable tote bag, and a shopping guide. Tours are open to military ID card holders who can shop at the commissary.
