The taps are on. 💧 After more than a year of planning, partnership and hard work, clean water is now flowing in Maya, Wakiso District, Uganda.

This new solar-powered water system will help provide safe water access to more than 200 children living at God's Grace Orphanage, along with teachers, staff and more than 4,000 people in the surrounding community.

Projects like this are never the work of one person or one organization. They are made possible through the collaboration of engineers, hydrogeologists, surveyors, drillers, electricians, plumbers, public health practitioners, community leaders, local residents, donors and partners working together toward a shared goal.

Most importantly, this project was built with the participation and commitment of the local community, whose stewardship will help sustain the system for years to come.

We are deeply grateful to every donor, volunteer, partner and community member who helped make this possible.

This moment represents more than the completion of a water system. It represents healthier families, improved educational opportunities, greater dignity and renewed hope for the future.

Together, we are taking another step toward a world where everyone has access to safe water.

THE TAPS ARE OFFICIALLY ON! 🎉💧After months of planning and hard work on the ground in Uganda, clean, safe water is finally flowing in the community of Maya, Wakiso, Uganda. In this episode of MISSION: WATER, we return to see the completed water taps in action and hear from the people whose lives will be impacted by it for years to come.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to finish this clean water system and give clean, safe water to thousands more people.

Welcome to Episode 1 of MISSION: WATER, our new 4-part docuseries following the story of bringing clean water to an orphanage and school in Uganda.

In this episode, we take on site in Maya, Wakiso, Uganda for the countdown to build a sustainable, solar-powered water system for an orphanage of 200+ children and the surrounding village. You'll see the engineering reality of drilling a massive 92-meter deep bore hole, installing a solar pump, and partnering with the local community to make it last for decades. • A deep borehole to access safer groundwater⁠
• A solar-powered pump to move water without relying on unstable electricity⁠
• Two 5,000-litre storage tanks⁠
• Pipeline distribution to the orphanage, school and community access points⁠
• Water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH) training⁠
• A local water management committee to help maintain the system long-term ⁠

Together, this creates a reliable, sustainable source of clean water for more than 200 children and over 4,000 surrounding community members.⁠

Imagine trying to learn, grow, and thrive without access to safe water. At God’s Grace Orphanage in Uganda—a home and school that serves 203 of the community’s most vulnerable children—this is the daily reality. While these children are provided with free education and daily meals, safe water is a constant challenge.

The Urgent Need at the School:

🏥 Rising Health Risks: 1 in 5 child deaths in Uganda is linked to unsafe water, and waterborne illnesses like typhoid are a leading cause of illness for these students.

📉 Interrupted Learning: Frequent illness spreads quickly in orphanage settings, leading to missed school days and disrupting education.

☀️ Climate Pressures: Severe shortages occur during dry spells because the current borehole lacks sufficient depth and output.

👥 Overwhelming Demand: Overcrowding at the existing water point puts a massive strain on the 15 teachers and support staff.

This new clean water system will be a total game-changer, drastically improving daily life by providing a sustainable source for washing, cleaning, eating, and drinking. It will give these children a foundation for health, learning and growth.
