Last night we were fortunate enough to celebrate our Italian Heritage and Culture with the Town of North Hempstead. This event is the brainstorm of our lodges First Lady Maria Cavallaro bringing it to the attention of Councilwoman Marianne Dalimonte. This celebration has been sponsored generously by the Town of North Hempstead. It included a light Italian dinner, music and dancing along with beautiful displays of our Italian Heritage and Culture by the John Michael Marino Lodge as well as the Cellini Lodge. Our honoree for last night's celebration was Lisa Vecchio Belinsky. An honor that she has truly earned! It was a beautiful evening filled with pride and camaraderie, and to top off the night we were able to celebrate Maureen Scotto Ferrante's birthday with a special Happy Birthday song by Teo 🇮🇹

The John Michael Marino Lodge was proud to march in the Deer Park Columbus Day parade. This year our honoree for the parade was longtime member Domenica "MIMA" Strangolagalli. She was honored for her community service and dedication to the lodge.

When I was elected in 2020, it was brought to my attention that the Town of North Hempstead celebrated many cultures, but Italian American heritage was not represented.

I brought this to the attention of former Supervisor Judi Bosworth and asked that Italian American Heritage Month be added to the Town’s annual event calendar. Thanks to that effort, we began celebrating Italian American Heritage Month in the Town of North Hempstead in 2022.

Since then, every year, I have introduced a resolution declaring October Italian American Heritage Month in our Town.

October is a time to celebrate our rich heritage, honor the traditions passed down through generations, and recognize the many contributions Italian Americans have made to our community and our country.

I am truly grateful to have helped bring this celebration to the Town of North Hempstead, and I look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.

🇮🇹 Please join us this Thursday evening as we celebrate Italian American Heritage Month together! I hope to see you there! 🇮🇹
