⚾ ALL IN FOR ACCESS TO PLAY ⚾

We recently welcomed grantee Good Sports and local kids to Citi Field for a special Junior Mets Clinic focused on making sure athletes of all abilities have the gear and support they need to pursue their love of the game.

Participants took part in skill-building activities, experienced the excitement of playing at the home of the New York Mets, and enjoyed a special visit from Mr. Met! 🧡💙 The clinic helped athletes develop their game in a supportive environment while celebrating the confidence, connection, and sense of belonging that sports can create.

As a part of the Foundation’s support for Good Sports, the clinic removes barriers to play by making sure athletes have the gear they need to take the field. With a grant from the Foundation, Good Sports also donates equipment and gear for baseball, softball, and tee-ball opportunities at local organizations and leagues that offer adaptive sports programming.

🫐🫑 🍎 FARM FRESH AND STUDENT LED 🍎🫑🫐

Students at Pelham Lab High School in the Bronx recently launched a farmstand to bring fresh, local food directly to their community through Foundation grantee GrowNYC's Farmstand Business Curriculum.

With support from the Amazin’ Mets Foundation to access GrowNYC’s curriculum this spring, students are continuing their exploration of food access in their community. Through a 12 lesson, standards aligned program, students examine their school’s growing capacity, think critically about neighborhood needs, and design a real world food access point that expands healthy options in their own backyard.

Through the program, students turn classroom learning into real world action, taking ownership of a food access point that extends fresh food from local farmers and their school’s own garden to neighbors throughout the Bronx 🧡💙

☀️🧡 JUNIOR METS BASEBALL CAMP IS BACK 🧡☀️

Last week, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation welcomed local youth back onto the field for our fourth year of Junior Mets Baseball Camp, presented by New Balance Baseball. Junior Mets Baseball Camp makes baseball more accessible, fun, and empowering for our community’s youngest players.

With the support of professional coaches from our grantee USA Baseball, campers spent the week building their skills, confidence, teamwork, and love for the game in a positive and supportive environment. To help campers make the most of their week on the field, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation provided full Junior Mets uniforms, daily lunches, and ticket vouchers to a future New York Mets game. Presenting partner New Balance Baseball provided tents, sideline banners, and other fun giveaways for players!

Thank you to every camper and coach who helped make the first week of Junior Mets Baseball Camp unforgettable 🧡💙 Take a look back at some of our favorite moments.

🧡💙 COMMUNITY HERO: GALLOPNYC 🧡💙

This July, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation was proud to recognize GallopNYC through our Community Hero Program, an initiative that highlights grantees making a lasting impact across our local communities during a Mets game at Citi Field.

In honor of Disability Pride Month, we welcomed GallopNYC for a special pregame ceremony to celebrate its work to provide New Yorkers of all abilities with opportunities to build confidence, independence, and connection through the power of working with horses.

With the support of the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, GallopNYC will expand access to its Equine Job Skills and Summer Camp programs. The Equine Job Skills Program helps individuals with developmental and physical disabilities gain hands-on experience and workplace skills, while the Summer Camp program provides campers of all abilities with access to horseback riding, horsemanship, outdoor activities, and an inclusive camp experience. Together, these programs support GallopNYC’s mission to help New Yorkers of all abilities build confidence, independence, and connection.

Join us in celebrating our latest Community Hero and their amazin’ commitment to helping New Yorkers learn, grow, and thrive!

💙🧡 2026 LEGACY AWARD RECIPIENT: KELSIE WHITMORE 🧡💙

We are proud to announce professional baseball player Kelsie Whitmore as the recipient of the 2026 Amazin’ Mets Foundation Legacy Award!

Kelsie was recognized during a pregame, on-field ceremony at Citi Field. In her honor, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, led by Foundation President Alex Cohen, awarded a $5,000 grant to NY Girls Baseball, a nonprofit growing the game and expanding access to the sport of baseball.

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation Legacy Award was created to celebrate members of the baseball community who are driving meaningful change on and off the field. As a pitcher who has competed for USA Baseball’s Women’s National Team and at the professional level, Kelsie has spent her career challenging expectations, expanding representation, and helping create a clearer, more visible pathway for girls and women in baseball.

“Kelsie Whitmore’s story is an inspiration to so many young athletes,” said Alex Cohen, President of the Amazin’ Mets Foundation and Owner of the New York Mets. “She has shown what is possible through hard work and a deep love of the game. We are proud to honor Kelsie with the Amazin’ Mets Foundation Legacy Award and celebrate the example she is setting for the next generation of girls in baseball.”

NOW ENTERING THE LINEUP: HOWIE 🐾🧡💙

We are excited to introduce our fourth Mets VetDog, Howie, proudly named in honor of legendary Mets broadcaster Howie Rose.

For the fourth year in a row, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation will sponsor a future service dog through America's VetDogs' “Puppy With a Purpose” program.

Like Shea, Seaver, and Buddy before him, Howie will spend his first chapter putting it in the books with the New York Mets family before continuing his training to serve a veteran or first responder living with disabilities. We are proud to again support America’s VetDogs in providing independence, mobility, and companionship to those who have served our country.

Howie, welcome to the team!

⭐💫 ALL-STAR ENERGY ⭐💫

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation recently welcomed children of active military members and veterans to Citi Field for a special Junior Mets Clinic, where young athletes took the field alongside coaches from Foundation grantee USA Baseball.

These future all-stars participated in hands on drills and on-field instruction to sharpen their fundamentals, build confidence, and learn what it takes to play the game at the highest level.

To help make the day even more special, Ford Motor Company donated baseball gloves for every participant and provided additional equipment through Pitch In For Baseball & Softball, an Amazin’ Mets Foundation grantee that delivers gear to youth leagues and schools who need it most.

Junior Mets Clinics at Citi Field and in communities across the region help inspire youth athletes, strengthen skills, and create lasting memories on and off the field.
