Achilles International Queens All abilities welcome! At Achilles International, we believe
that anything is possible.

Achilles International welcomes all people with disabilities who want to participate in mainstream athletics to join us each Sunday at 9:00 AM in Flushing Meadows Corona Park for our weekly workouts. Our
mission is to enable people with
disabilities to participate in mainstream
athletics in order to promote personal
achievement, enhance self-esteem and
lower barriers to living a fulfilling life. Founded in 1983 by Dick Traum, the first
amputee to run a marathon on a prosthetic
leg, our programs bring together athletes
with disabilities and able-bodied peers. Dick’s experience, and that of thousands of
Achilles athletes, proves that sports is the
tool to bring hope, inspiration and the joys
of achievement to people with disabilities. The Queens chapter of Achilles was formed to make it easier for local athletes to train close to home.
