🌮 Johnson Elementary Taco Lunch Appreciation

Today, Jackson Alpha Brother David Peyton surprised the amazing staff of Johnson Elementary School with a taco lunch to celebrate their last day of school, 05/28/26.

What made the moment even more special is that his daughter, D’Avia Henry‑Peyton, is part of the Johnson family — proudly completing her first year teaching 3rd grade at CC Johnson Elementary School.

A beautiful way to honor educators, support family, and pour back into the community that shapes our children.

Alpha Esquires Travel to Memphis, TN

The Jackson Alphas proudly supported the Alpha Esquires on an enriching end‑of‑year trip to Memphis, TN — a journey designed to blend history, culture, and fun as the young men closed out the school year.

While in Memphis, the Esquires toured the National Civil Rights Museum at the historic Lorraine Motel, gaining a deeper understanding of the struggle for justice and the leaders who shaped the Civil Rights Movement. They also visited the powerful I Am A Man Plaza, reflecting on the legacy of the 1968 sanitation workers’ strike and the ongoing fight for dignity and equality.

The group continued their exploration at AMUSE Adventure Museum, where hands‑on exhibits and interactive learning added a fun, creative dimension to the day. To top it off, they enjoyed a delicious lunch at Central Barbeque — a Memphis staple known for its legendary smoked flavors.

This trip offered the Esquires meaningful exposure to history, culture, and fellowship, reinforcing the values of leadership, curiosity, and brotherhood that define their journey.

Kirksey Middle School 8th Grade Class Day

The Jackson Alphas proudly celebrated academic excellence at Kirksey Middle School on May 20, 2026, by honoring the Top Ten eighth‑grade scholars with gift cards in recognition of their hard work and achievement. The scholar with the highest overall average received a commemorative plaque, highlighting their exceptional dedication to scholarship.

Kirksey Middle School carries a profound legacy as it is named in honor of Henry J. Kirksey, a distinguished member of the Jackson Alphas and one of the first two African American men elected to the Mississippi Senate after the Reconstruction era. His leadership, courage, and advocacy for justice continue to inspire generations of students who walk the halls bearing his name.

In a special moment of appreciation, the Jackson Alphas were also presented with a plaque recognizing their service and support during the 2025–2026 school year—an acknowledgment of their ongoing commitment to uplifting youth and strengthening the community.

An Evening of Golf

On April 10, 2026, the Jackson Alphas enjoyed a meaningful evening at the historic Pete Brown Golf Facility in Jackson, MS. Members and other community members played a full 18‑hole round as part of a charitable tournament sponsored by our Alpha Foundation, with all proceeds supporting scholarships and youth‑focused programs throughout the Jackson area.

This event wasn’t just about golf—it was about service, legacy, and investing in the next generation. Playing on a course named for Pete Brown, the first African American PGA Tour winner, added a powerful sense of history and purpose to the experience.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who participated, supported, volunteered, or partnered with us to make this charitable event a success. Your presence and contributions help strengthen our mission and expand opportunities for young people across the Jackson community.

Frederick Douglas Black History Oratorical Contest

The Jackson Alphas, through the Alpha Foundation and in collaboration with dedicated community partners, proudly sponsored the Frederick Douglass Black History Oratorical Contest on March 6, 2026. This program honored the enduring Black tradition of courage, intellect, leadership, and service expressed through the power of speech.

From Frederick Douglass’s unyielding demand for justice, to the moral clarity of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., to the legal brilliance of Justice Thurgood Marshall, oratory has long been a driving force for progress in the Black community. This contest challenged young men to study Black history, think critically about the issues of today, and speak with purpose about the future they intend to shape.

The event was hosted at the historic Mt. Helm M.B. Church, Mississippi’s oldest Black congregation and a fitting backdrop for an evening rooted in legacy and aspiration.
