Distinguished Young Women of Rankin County

Distinguished Young Women of Rankin County is an official local preliminary of Distinguished Young Women of Mississippi.

The program promotes and rewards scholastics, leadership and talent in young women. Founded in 1958, Distinguished Young Women is a free program that encourages participants to reach their full individual potential. Our mission is to empower young women by providing over $1 billion in scholarship opportunities, developing their self-confidence in a positive peer environment and participating in our Life Skills Workshops that prepare them for success after high school

🎓 We are so proud of Rankin DYW 2026 Maylee Gilmer! Maylee graduated from Florence High School as Salutatorian, STAR Student, Honor Graduate, Distinguished Academic Graduate, Distinguished Service Graduate, and MS Scholar Graduate.

Maylee will attend Mississippi State University in the Fall as a Presidential Scholar majoring in Biomedical Engineering. 🐾

What a sweet surprise! Yesterday, Mary Grace was presented proclamations from both the Mississippi House of Representatives and Senate recognizing her as Rankin County's Distinguished Young Woman. Presenting her with the honors were Representative Lance Varner and Senator Brian Rhodes. Thank you both for your support of Mary Grace and Rankin County DYW!

✨ Today, Mary Grace and MaKinlee joined this year’s Young Women of Mississippi participants at the Winner’s Workshop. ✨

Mary Grace is the current Rankin County DYW. We are also excited for MaKinlee to join us the Copiah County DYW through the MS At-Large Program. We can’t wait to see these two talented young women to take the stage this summer.
