Through South Carolina’s Green Steps Schools program, students can turn environmental lessons into action by planting gardens, creating pollinator habitats, reducing waste, protecting waterways, tackling litter, and more. Then, they take what they’ve learned and share it with their families and communities. 💚

Attention:

The City of Florence is taking steps towards improving curbside recycling and modernizing operations with the addition of a new designated 11-yard rear loader recycling truck–the first of its kind in Florence. Its rear-loader design will provide the City’s sanitation crew with a safer, more efficient way to collect recyclable materials throughout the city. This represents an important investment in the recycling program and equipment needed to provide reliable service to residents while supporting a safer collection process.

🌎🎨 Art, environment, and community came together at the Land & Water Artists’ Reception!

Keep Florence Beautiful was happy to be part of this special evening at FMU. The Land & Water exhibit explores environmental issues that connect closely with our mission, including healthy waterways, ecosystems, invasive species, and the impact we have on the places we call home.

We loved meeting everyone, sharing more about KFB, and being part of a conversation about protecting our environment. 💚🌿

🚔💚 5628 Bags. 577 Tires. 155 Street Miles. One Cleaner Florence County.

From January through June, the Florence County Sheriff’s Department made a BIG impact in the fight against litter—collecting 5,628 bags of litter, removing 577 tires, and covering 155 miles of roadway!

And there’s an important connection behind those numbers. 📍

The roads targeted for cleanup are informed by reports submitted through Keep Florence Beautiful’s Litter Tracker. When residents report littered areas, that information helps identify problem spots and guide cleanup efforts where they’re needed most.

👏 A huge thank-you to the Florence County Sheriff’s Department for putting in the miles and helping keep our community clean.

If you have a significant amount of yard debris, please call the Public Works Department at 843-665-3236 to have your address added to the collection list for the city’s knuckleboom loader.
