Labor Day celebrates the contributions workers make every day—and at Proudworks, we know there are many different ways to be a valuable part of the workforce.

Some people assemble, package and produce. Others stock shelves, prepare food, maintain spaces, serve customers or learn a new job alongside a coach. Different abilities. Different strengths. Different paths to employment.

What matters is having the opportunity to contribute.

This Labor Day, we celebrate our clients and client employees, our staff, the employers who open doors, and the business partners who recognize the value people of all abilities bring to the workplace.

Proudworks will be closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. We wish our entire community a safe and enjoyable holiday! 💙

There’s something pretty special about seeing one of the individuals we support not only find a job, but become a valued member of the team.

We loved seeing our Supported Employment client featured by her new employer, Stanco Recycling—learning new skills, taking on new responsibilities, and showing what she can do! 👏

This is the goal of Supported Employment: connecting people with opportunities where their abilities are recognized, their skills can grow, and they can contribute in meaningful ways.

A huge thank you to the team at Stanco Recycling for seeing the person, potential and possibilities. And to their newest employee Belinda—we are SO happy for you! 💙

🌿 An Eagle Scout project with a lasting impact! 🦅

A huge thank you to Xavier Moorman for choosing Proudworks for his Eagle Scout project!

With help from his parents, Chris and Vanessa, Xavier gave part of our outdoor space some much-needed TLC—removing dead and aging plants and replacing them with beautiful new landscaping generously donated by Maddox Garden Center & Landscaping Inc. 🌱

But he didn’t stop there! Xavier also built a brand-new bocce ball court for our clients to enjoy—and to get in a little extra practice for Special Olympics of Northern Kentucky events! 🎯 The materials for the court were generously donated by Carter Lumber.

Xavier, thank you for the time, hard work and thought you put into creating something our clients will enjoy for years to come. And thank you to the Moorman family, Maddox Garden Center & Landscaping and Carter Lumber for helping bring his project to life.

This is what community looks like. 💙

These words from Jakob Jordan are simple, powerful—and something every community should hear.

At Proudworks, and at organizations like ours throughout the disability community, our work is about much more than programs and services. It’s about helping create opportunities for people with disabilities to experience the same things we all want from adulthood:

A job that gives us purpose.
A paycheck of our own.
Friends and relationships.
A night out.
Hobbies and interests.
New experiences.
Choices about how we spend our time.
A place in our community where we are known, valued and included.

And perhaps most importantly, the opportunity to be recognized as a whole person—not a diagnosis, disability or first impression.

Sometimes the best advocacy isn't complicated.

Listen to people. Include them. Respect their adulthood. Expect more than limitations. And create opportunities for them to show you who they are.

💙 **Northern Kentucky friends—can you help? Please share!**

Our friends at The Point/Arc of Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati are searching for a new home for the dances they host **six times each year**—and these evenings mean so much to the people who attend.

While hosted by The Point Arc, these dances bring together individuals with disabilities from **across the Northern Kentucky community**, including people who participate in programs and services through other area organizations. They’re an opportunity to get together with friends, meet new people, dance, socialize and simply enjoy a fun night out. 💃🕺🎶

They’re looking for a venue that can accommodate up to **200 guests**, is **accessible**, available on Friday evenings beginning in October, and can work within a nonprofit budget.

Sometimes the right connection is only one share away!
