On June 21st at 17:31, the Florala Fire Department was dispatched to a possible missing boater on Lake Jackson. The Florala Fire Department responded. Upon arrival, the individual was located safe and unharmed. The Florala Fire Department returned to service. We would like to thank all responding agencies and community members who assisted during the incident. We are grateful for the positive outcome and the safe return of the boater.

Today, we honor and celebrate all fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures in our community.

The members of the Florala Volunteer Fire Department would like to wish all the dads in the City of Florala and surrounding communities a very Happy Fatherā€™s Day!

Thank you to the fathers who work every day to provide, protect, teach, and lead their families. We especially want to recognize the fathers who serve as firefighters, first responders, military members, law enforcement officers, healthcare workers, and all those who sacrifice time away from their families to serve others.

To the dads spending today with family, we hope you enjoy this special day. To those working or on call, thank you for your dedication and service.

6/19/26 - Florala Fire Department members had the honor of visiting Florala Health and Rehabilitation Center to participate in their Fatherā€™s Day ā€œMan Caveā€ event.

Our firefighter spent time with the residents playing games, sharing stories, and enjoying fellowship. Even though only one member was available to attend, we were proud to represent the department and support this special event for the gentlemen at the facility.

Thank you to Florala Health and Rehabilitation Center for the invitation. Community involvement is an important part of what we do, and we appreciate the opportunity to spend time with these residents.

6/20/26 - Florala Fire Department was proud to assist with the Gator Trot 5K today! Our firefighters staffed two water stations along the route, providing water to the runners and walkers throughout the event.

We appreciate everyone who participated and supported this great community event. It is always an honor for our department to be involved and help make these events safe and successful.

Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, runners, and walkers for allowing us to be a part of the Gator Trot 5K. We look forward to supporting future community events!

Florala Fire Dept. 6/19/26

On June 19, 2026, at 1:18 PM, the Florala Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a tree down across Smyrna Road, blocking both lanes of travel.

Brush 35 responded to the call. Upon arrival, firefighters found a tree obstructing the roadway. Crew members utilized chainsaws to cut and remove the tree, safely clearing the roadway for motorists.

Once the roadway was cleared and deemed safe for travel, Brush 35 returned to service and all personnel returned to the station

Florala Volunteer Fire Department calls on June 13:

At 10:39 AM, Florala Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on 5th Avenue. While responding, units were advised that our assistance was no longer needed, and all responding units were canceled and returned to service.

At 3:24 PM, Florala Fire Department was dispatched to the Florala Helipad to standby for a patient transfer from Haynes Ambulance to Haynes Life Flight. Fire personnel stood by to ensure a safe landing and departure of the aircraft. Once the helicopter safely departed, all Florala Fire units returned to service.

We are proud to serve our community and work alongside our emergency response partners to help ensure the safety of our citizens.

On June 10th at 1745 the Florala Fire Department was dispatched to a reported residential fire alarm. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly investigated the cause of the alarm and ensured the safety of all occupants and the surrounding area.

We are thankful for the opportunity to serve our community and remind everyone that fire alarms play a critical role in providing early warning during emergencies. If your alarm activates, always take it seriously and evacuate until the situation has been assessed.

On June 9th at 1741 Florala Fire Dept was dispatched to a brush fire on 6th Street. Firefighters arrived on scene and worked quickly to contain and extinguish the fire, preventing further spread to nearby areas. No injuries were reported. Florala Fire Dept went back in service.

June 9th at 1843 Florala Fire Dept was dispatched to assist Advanced EMS with CPR in progress. Florala Fire assisted EMS, patient was loaded and transported to a local hospital. Florala Fire Dept went back in service.

Training Day at the Fire Department

Today our members trained on the tools and equipment carried on Engine 36. Firefighters removed tools and equipment from the truck for hands-on training to become more familiar with their operation and locations on the apparatus.

Training included:

*Tool and equipment familiarization

*Deploying and climbing ladders

* Hooking up and operating extrication tools

*SCBA packs and changing air bottles

*Learning tool locations for quicker response times

* How to read a Thermal Imagining Camera (TIC)

Our department holds training after our monthly business meeting on the second Tuesday of each month, along with a dedicated training meeting on the 4th Sunday each month.

Continuous training helps keep our firefighters prepared to safely and effectively serve our community.
