It’s about time!!!!
Finally… some traction for action. I like that we can all have pets. I’ve always had them and loved and cared for them. But a pet is not something that should be abused. Now effective October 1, we will have a way to take better action.
Passed by the Alabama Legislature in April 2026, Beau’s Law (SB361) establishes minimum care standards for outdoor-tethered dogs, making it illegal to tether a dog to a stationary object without providing adequate food, water, and sanitary shelter. Named after a dog found tethered in harsh conditions, the law, which takes effect Oct. 1, 2026, requires functional, dry shelter and prevents the use of dangerous, heavy chains
