Great opportunity from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office for Hunterdon parents to have car seats checked.

November is National Child Safety and Protection Month, and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office is highlighting an important resource available to help parents and caregivers protect their youngest passengers.

Since 2003, the Prosecutor’s Office has offered free car seat safety checks and hands-on guidance from certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians to ensure car seats and booster seats are properly installed and used.

Safety checks are typically held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Route 12 County Complex in Flemington, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., as well as at community events.

Please note: November’s car seat safety checks will take place on Tuesday, November 10, and Tuesday, November 17, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

It was great to spend time today with representatives of NJ TRANSIT, New Jersey Department of Transportation, Hunterdon County, NJ Department of Land Use & Planning, and to discuss opportunities for access and safety improvements at the NJ TRANSIT Annandale Station and High Bridge Station.

Halloween is a uniquely pedestrian holiday. Let's make sure that everyone stays safe this weekend with a few safety reminders:

Trick or Treaters:
1. Walk, don't run from house to house.
2. Look and listen for vehicles. Make eye contact with drivers before crossing. Be especially aware of driveways.
3. Walk on the sidewalk where available. No sidewalk? Walk facing traffic so you can see vehicles approaching.
4. Cross at crosswalks or corners.
5. STOP, look left, right and left again before crossing.
6. If you will be out at dusk or when it is dark, wear reflective materials when walking after dark.

Drivers:
1. Obey posted speed limits. Reduce your speed in residential areas.
2. Do not be distracted~ that call or text can wait.
3. Watch for trick or treaters, understanding that they may not be as visible as adult pedestrians.
