We offer at no cost, to bring our miniature horse, Faith,to you for a visit. It is our hope to share some of the happiness she brings us, with you. It all began in 2002 when our daughter, Toni was hospitalized with a serious blood infection, and a very nice couple came to
visit her in the hospital with their therapy dog. Having the therapy dog visit, not only brought happiness to my daughter, but
gave myself a few moments of less worry as well. After experiencing such kindness, I
was inspired to someday give the same gift to someone else. In 2007 - 2008 we started out on our small adventure to get a miniature horse for pet therapy. From the beginning, things seemed to just fall into place. We purchased Bucky at age 2 from the Slater family at Painted Hill Farm. When we went to purchase him, we found out that he couldn't live at our house full time, due to the fact that we didn't have enough acreage. We thought that it was the end of our dream, until the Slater's called
and offered to board him for us at a very affordable price. Their kindness was the start of making all of this possible, and we hope they know how special they are to us and how much we appreciate their friendship. When we first bought Bucky, we purchased a used trailer from our friend Andy, with hopes to fix it up. He is always trying to help others, and we appreciate all that he has done for us. Once we were ready to fix up the trailer, Mrs. Slater referred us to Lazy-K Dist. Inc and mentioned that the business was run in an honest and hardworking manner. We soon realized that we needed to purchase a new trailer for all of the driving
we would be doing. When we walked into their office that day, we had no idea how much it was going to change our lives. They took us under their wing and helped us in so many ways that we could never be able to repay. When Hop called us to let us know that Lazy K Dist. Inc., Pfenninger Paving & Excavating, Harvest Moon Inn, and RAM Graphics were all willing to sponsor us, we couldn't believe it. They have not only managed to facilitate the needs of "A Bit of Love" with their generous donations, but have shown us that even though we live in a materialistic world, that there are still many good people out there who are thoughtful, generous, and kind. Not only will Bucky be safer when he is in transit, but we will be better equipped to help others as well. On July 1st, 2011 we unexpectedly lost Bucky. Being the character that he was, made each visit fun
interesting for all involved. We will cherish the short time we had with him always. During Bucky's journey
we were blessed to have met so many interesting, kind, special and strong people. We are blessed to have met so many wonder people who generously welcomed us into their lives. On July 17, 2011 we welcomed "Faith" to A Bit of Love. She was 3 months old and full of spirit. Dena worked
very hard to get her used to being on a lead rope, just in
time to finish what she and Bucky started for the
Susan G. Komen Ride For The Cure on 10/16/11. All together they raised $3,651.16
In November my dear friend, Leslie pointed out to us
that Faith was looking knock kneed and skinny. With
Faith being our first foal, we were not aware of how
important grain and supplements are to a young foal. We immediately brought her to be examined, and she
was put on a very specific diet and needed special lifts
to help position her legs as she grows. Our friends at Bow Brickhill Stables in Holland
Township stepped up to the plate and offered to help us
by allowing her to stay at their beautiful barn and help
nurse her back to the strong filly she is today. While she
stays at Bow Brickhill Stables she is visited by the many
kind and happy people that board their horses there. Having the attention of so many people has helped her
advance both physically and emotionally. She receives
many hugs and kisses on a daily basis. We have already started training her with items like
crutches, walkers and baby strollers, and she is
advancing in leaps and bounds!
