To lose the mother of your child to an overdose, carry the heartbreak of knowing your son was the one who found her, and still stand up at an Overdose Awareness event to shed light and save lives is nothing short of POWERFUL.
A profound thank you to Shawn, one of our newest Youth Support Specialists, for his raw vulnerability, courage, and honesty. Sharing the unfiltered reality of grief and loss takes immense strength, and watching him deliver that message was an act of healing in itself.
We will continue to wrap Shawn and his son in love, patience, and unwavering support as they navigate their healing—and we encourage our community to join us in lifting them up, checking in on the grieving, and continuing to break the silence around overdose.💜

At Progress Pushers we empower our youth leaders to use their brilliance, creativity, and intentional efforts for the greater good. We often forget that the majority of our American revolutionary leaders were/ are youth and young adults. Instead of minimizing, dismissing or silencing their voices, we MUST help them to create platforms that will inform, inspire and encourage us all.

Shout out to Izzy The Great -- a PP participant who was labeled prematurely, stigmatized, pre-judged, failed by the systems, projected to become another statistic, and misdiagnosed. However, through relentless engagement, positive consistency and an outpouring of genuine love and support, he, in less than a year, successfully exited our services and eventually became our first youth board member!

Izzy is a perfect example of what happens when we, as a community, focuses on an adolescent's potential opposed to his/her crime or immature decision-making.

Today was truly special! 💜Thank you to everyone who came out and supported Progress Pushers 2nd Annual Overdose Awareness. We are incredibly grateful to each of our speakers who shared their knowledge, powerful testimonies and words of hope with our community. Your courage reminded us that recovery is possible and every life is worth fighting for. Thank you to all of our resource partners, vendors, performers, volunteers and team members who showed up and helped make today possible. From overdose prevention resources and Narcan education to free food, haircuts and school supplies, today was all about remembering those we’ve lost, supporting those still fighting and pouring love back into our community. We couldn’t have done it without every person who donated, partnered, volunteered or simply showed up.

Thank you for standing with Progress Pushers and helping us continue this important work. 💜

DON'T MISS IT.....

We look forward to educating, empowering and enjoying the love of community at our 2nd annual Overdose Awareness event!

Unfortunately, many of us have lost someone due to an overdose and we aim to: raise more awareness concerning this taboo yet hurtful topic, comfort one another, provide resources, deliver important information regarding how to help someone who may be overdosing in the moment, etc.

We'll also hear personal impact stories, listen to good music, learn from one another ("each one, teach one, reach one), and simply show our community what love and support looks like!

We hope to see you there... The PROGRESS Continues with an absolute Purpose✊🏿🩵🙏🏿
