The Valley Retired Police Dog Association is an organization of current and retired Police K-9 handlers from the South King County area. Cities represented in this association include Auburn, Black Diamond, Des Moines, Federal Way, Kent, Renton, and Tukwila. The goal of this association is to financially support Police Service dogs in their retirement years. Police agencies provide food and veteri

nary care for dogs during their active service years. Once dogs retire, agencies no longer provide this support for the dogs. Police dogs often endure years of physically demanding work serving their communities. The nature of their work catches up with them in their older years, often resulting in extra medical needs.
